October TFWC Meeting to Be Held at Lone Oaks Farm in Hardeman County
NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission will hold a one-day meeting on Friday, Oct. 25 beginning at 9 a.m. at Lone Oaks Farm in Hardeman County. It will be the second time the commission has met at the farm which is administered by UT Extension, a unit of the University Of Tennessee Institute Of Agriculture.
An update on an on-going turkey research will be given by David Buehler of UT Knoxville. The research projects is seeking to provide a comprehensive look at turkey survival, reproduction and other factors impacting population trend in southern Middle Tennessee.
A report will be given on chronic wasting disease. Chuck Yoest, TWRA’s CWD coordinator, will provide the latest testing results and information on the high-risk and CWD positive counties in West Tennessee.
The new Wildlife and Forestry Division Team Award is being launched this year. It will be awarded to the CWD Response Team for its efforts. In addition, the TWRA Wildlife and Forestry Division Biologist and Technician of the Year award winners will be presented at the meeting.
Representatives from the Hardin County Farmers Group will be in attendance. The TWRA will be recognized for its recent work in the county at White Oak Wildlife Management Area.
The location within Lone Oaks Farm will be in the Sale Barn Room. The working farm encompasses 1,200 acres and s located between Bolivar and Middleton.
