Educational Attainment in the United States, SREB States, and TN, 2015
Research has demonstrated positive relationships between educational attainment and various economic and social measures. The ongoing “Drive to 55” campaign emphasizes raising educational attainment in Tennessee. Overall, the percentage of Tennessee adults with at least a high school diploma (88.1 percent) is comparable to the SREB and United States averages (86.8 and 88.2 percent, respectively). However, Tennessee is below average at all levels of postsecondary attainment: associate degrees, bachelor’s degrees, and graduate or professional degrees.
