TennCare Information About Coronavirus

eHealth Information Exchange Overview

The eHealth, Information Exchange is defined as the mobilization of health care information electronically across organizations within a region, community or hospital system. The initiative provides the capability to move information among disparate health care information systems while maintaining integrity and accuracy of the information being exchanged. The goal is to facilitate access to and retrieval of data to provide timely, secure, efficient, effective, and equitable patient centered care.

TennCare helps health care providers get access to as much data as possible so they can better treat patients.  Specifically, we share data with providers about labs, medications, ER visits, hospital admissions, etc. for specific patients they are treating.  This helps ensure patients get the right care at the right place at the right time.

Hospitals are critically important partners in this effort. Click below to learn how hospitals and other providers benefit – and how this relates to Tennessee’s broader health care payment reform efforts.
