Timeline
Transportation projects are developed in four phases: Planning and Environmental, Design, Right-of-Way (ROW) and Construction. The improvement project for the interchange of Interstate 40 at State Route 186 (US 45 Bypass/Keith Short Bypass), including the intersection of State Route 186 and Casey Jones Lanes/Carriage House Drive, and the interchange of Interstate 40 at State Route 5 (US 45/North Highland Avenue) is currently in the Construction phase.

BID PRICE : $67,506,416.80
EST. COMPLETION DATE: JUNE 2021
In an effort to accommodate current traffic volumes and minimize impacts to motorists during construction, the following provisions have been made for the project.
- Business access will be maintained at all times.
- At least two lanes of travel will remain open in each direction on I-40, SR 186, and SR 5.
- SR 186 (US 45 Bypass) will be reconstructed first.
- SR 5 (North Highland Avenue) interchange will not be affected until the bypass construction is completed.
