Transportation projects are developed in three phases: Preliminary Engineering, Right-of-Way (ROW) and Construction. The proposed improvements for State Route 109, between US 70 and the Cumberland River, are currently under construction.

OCTOBER 2020 UPDATE: A contract extension has been been approved to account for utility delays. The new contract completion date is November 2021.
