Transportation projects are developed in four phases: Planning and Environmental, Design, Right-of-Way and Construction. The proposed improvements to State Route 73 are currently in the Planning and Environmental phase of the process.

In 2011, the Department decided to move the project forward using federal funds. This required the Department to convert the state-level TEER document into a federal-level Environmental Assessment (EA) document, as required by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

• Public Design Meeting anticipated to take place in late 2021

• ROW Appraisal/Acquisition (est. 18-24 months), forecasted to begin summer 2022 (pending available funding)

• Construction to begin in Summer 2024 (pending available funding)
