Motorists traveling on State Route 35 (US 321) in Cocke County should be aware of an
upcoming lane closure that will have an impact on traffic.

Beginning on Tuesday, June 20, State Route 35 (US 321) will be closed at the intersection of State Route 160 and Old Greeneville Highway to just west of the intersection of St. Tide Hollow Road and Old Greeneville Highway. This will allow for the construction tie-in of existing State Route 35 (US 321) to the proposed State Route 35 (US 321)/Newport Bypass.

During this road construction, a temporary detour will be in place to direct motorists through the work zone onto Old Greeneville Highway. This traffic pattern is expected to be in place until December 2023.

This schedule is contingent on favorable weather conditions.  Motorists are advised to use extreme caution in this area as workers will be present.
