Transportation projects are developed in four phases: Planning and Environmental, Design, Right-of-Way (ROW) and Construction. The improvement project for the intersection of State Route 1 (Kingston Pike/US 70) and State Route 2 (Lee Highway/US 11), also known as Dixie Lee Junction, is currently in the Construction phase.

Project Updates

November 29, 2021

Curb installed on proposed business tract behind Dixie Lee Wine and Liquors. Pipe installation along North Watt Road and south-west corner of the intersection, in front of Little Joe’s Pizza. Kingston Pike EB will experience a traffic shift to one lane to install new pedestrian sidewalks. North Watt Road and Kingston Pike will experience some temporary night-time lane closures to install traffic control measures. During the daytime hours, motorists will experience traffic shifts. Proposed sidewalk installation along North Watt Road. Kingston Pike EB will experience a traffic shift to one lane to install proposed drainage pipe and new pedestrian sidewalks.

 

October 22, 2021

Installation of proposed gas line. Constructing proposed business tract behind Dixie Lee Wine and Liquors. Excavation along North Watt Road.  Excavation on corners of South Watt Road to install new sidewalks and signals. North Watt Road and Kingston Pike will experience some temporary night-time lane closures to install traffic control measures. During the daytime hours, motorists will experience traffic shifts.  Excavation will continue along North Watt Road to accommodate proposed right turn lane, proposed sidewalk, and proposed gas line installation. Kingston Pike will experience a traffic shift to one lane on the east side of Watt Road to install new pedestrian sidewalks.
