State Route 92 Bridge Replacement
Transportation projects are developed in four phases: Planning and Environmental, Design, Right-of-Way (ROW), and Construction. Bridge replacement on State Route 92 over French Broad River is currently in the Construction phase.

In October 2017, traffic was shifted for the first time to a portion of the newly constructed SR 92 bridge.
In June 2016, construction on the new State Route 92 Bridge was well underway. The old truss-style bridge remianed open to traffic, while crews began work on the new structure.
On June 19, 2014, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) approved the Categorical Exclusion (CE) for this project, completing the process in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
