Timeline

Transportation projects are developed in four phases: Planning and Environmental, Design, Right-of-Way and Construction. Proposed improvements to State Route 71 (US 441/Chapman Highway), from Hendron Chapel to Simpson Road, are currently under construction.

Project Update:

May 31, 2023

Wall drawings have been approved for Walls 2, 4, 6, 7 and 8. Second bore near Highland View Road is scheduled to take place in June. Grading has continued between Bower Fields and Simpson Road. Temporary stabilization has taken hold near Bower Fields and Wall 1.

March 31, 2023

Wall 1 construction has been completed. Crews are grading for the V-ditch behind wall 1, and preparing to pour the parapet wall in front of wall 1.  New water line has been installed to STA 384+00RT.

February 7, 2023

Wall 1 grading was completed the week of 1/9/23. Beginning the week of 1/16/23 ,Wall 1 drilling will begin for piles. The new gas line has been installed up to W. Circle Drive. Once the new gas line is installed, the new water line will begin to be installed.  

November 16, 2022

The contractor has moved on site to begin installation of construction signs and stake the project limits.
