State Route 71 (US 441) Chapman Highway Improvements

Knox and Sevier Counties


Transportation projects are developed in four phases: Planning and Environmental, Design, Right-of-Way and Construction. Proposed improvements to State Route 71 (US 441/Chapman Highway) consist of four roadway projects.  The status of each project is listed below.

Knox County

Section from Evans Road to Burnett Lane
Construction activities have begun.

Section from south of Simpson Road to Hendron Chapel Road in Knoxville
Right-Of-Way activities have begun.  Construction activities are anticipated to begin in late Summer/early Fall 2020.  

Sevier County

Section from Macon Lane to State Route 338 (Boyds Creek Highway)
This project is currently under construction with an estimated completion date of fall 2020.  

Knox, Blount and Sevier Counties

Section from near Blount Avenue to near SR 338 (Boyds Creek Highway) in Seymour
This project is currently in the preliminary engineering phase.
