State Route 71 (US 441) Chapman Highway Improvements

Knox and Sevier Counties


Transportation projects are developed in four phases: Planning and Environmental, Design, Right-of-Way and Construction. Proposed improvements to State Route 71 (US 441/Chapman Highway) consist of four roadway projects.  The status of each project is listed below.

Knox County

Section from Evans Road to Burnett Lane
Right-Of-Way activities are being finalized. Construction is expected to begin in late Spring/early Summer 2019, pending funding.

Section from south of Simpson Road to Hendron Chapel Road in Knoxville
Right-Of-Way activities have begun (anticipated to take 12-14 months to complete).  Construction to begin in early 2020, pending funding. 

Sevier County

Section from Macon Lane to State Route 338 (Boyds Creek Highway)
This project is currently under construction with an estimated completion date of fall 2020.  

Section from south of Foothills Road to Whites School Road
Construction was completed in December 2016.
