Timeline

Transportation projects are developed in three phases: Preliminary Engineering, Right-of-Way and Construction. Due to the significant size of the State Route 115 (US 129/Alcoa Highway) project, the proposed improvements have been separated into seven smaller sections or phases. The section between State Route 35 (Hall Road) and the proposed Tyson Boulevard Interchange is currently under construction.

Project Update

Monday, May 13 – Friday, May 17   

The Contractor will continue grading operations along the new alignment of West Hunt Road. They will be hauling the excavated material to the Waste Site*. Also, waterline installation will continue along West Hunt Road, Ambrose, and Ramp B and they will continue installing gas line along West Hunt Road. The utility work along West Hunt Road will require a flagging operation, which will result in some temporary lane closures. These closures will be in non-commute hours (from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM). There will also be mowing crews on-site.

Monday, May 20 – Friday, May 24

The Waste Site for this project will be located north of East Hunt Road on the old sod farm (Tract 80). The soil that is hauled to this area will be utilized on the upcoming sections of the Alcoa Highway Bypass in Blount County.
