State Route 1 (Kingston Pike) at Watt Road

Timeline

Transportation projects are developed in four phases: Planning and Environmental, Design, Right-of-Way (ROW) and Construction. The planned improvements for the intersection of State Route 1 (US 11 / Kingston Pike) at Watt Road are currently in the Construction phase.

Lane Closures

Lane closures and lane shifts are expected with project area during construction; however, at least three lanes of travel will be maintained at all times along Kingston Pike and two lanes will be maintained at all times along Watt Road. Motorists are urged to use caution and be aware of changing road conditions in the work zone.

 

Project Updates

September 22, 2021

North Watt Road and Kingston Pike will experience some temporary night-time lane closures     to install traffic control measures. During the daytime hours, motorists will experience traffic shifts. Excavation will begin along North Watt Road to accommodate proposed right turn lane, proposed sidewalk, and proposed gas line installation.

 August 13, 2021

Current activities include the removal of the median along the northwest quadrant of North Watt Road. Clearing activities occuring behind Dixie Lee Wine and Liquor. Installation of proposed gas line.
In the weeks ahead, North Watt Road and Kingston Pike will experience some temporary night-time lane closures to install traffic control measures. During the daytime hours, motorists will expe-rience traffic shifts. Once the existing median on the northwest quadrant of North Watt Road is removed and this section is paved, a new lane will be accessible. Kingston Pike will experience a traffic shift to one lane on the east side of Watt Road to install new pedestrian sidewalks.
