DISTRICT 27

CUMBERLAND COUNTY SR-101 (Peavine Road) grading, drainage, and paving from Firetower Road to Westchester/Catoosa Boulevard:

As grade work progresses, motorists should be alert for shifts in traffic patterns to allow for construction activities. The posted speed limit will be reduced from 45 mph to 35 mph within the work zone. Temporary lane closures and traffic stoppages may be needed to support ongoing work. Lane and/or road closures will be needed within Fairfield Glade to allow installation of storm drain and relocation of utilities. If needed, alternate routes will be coordinated with the Glade and properly identified. Motorists should reduce speeds on Peavine Road and be alert for construction personnel/equipment entering and exiting the roadway.  Estimated project completion date is November 2020.

FENTRESS COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on SR-85 (Wilder Road) in both directions from LM 6.3 to LM 6.9:

One lane of SR-85 is closed due to a slide and settlement. A traffic signal is present and the slide is delineated with cones. Motorists should be aware of the traffic signal and use caution in the area.

FENTRESS COUNTY SR-52, SR-154 and SR-297 Resurfacing (microsurfacing):

The contractor is scheduled to be on site installing construction signs and removing center roadway marking.  Intermittent lane closures will be used to facilitate this work.  Motorists are encouraged to obey advanced warning signs and watch for construction equipment in the roadway. The roadway sections affected are as follows:

SR-52 from east of SR-28 (US-127) to SR-296, SR-154 from north of Louvaine Rd. to the Pickett Co. line and SR-297 from SR-154 to the Scott Co. line. Estimated project completion date is June 2019.

JACKSON COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on SR-262 (Gladdice Highway) both directions from LM 8.6 to LM 8.9:

SR-262 is reduced to one lane and signal controlled at the 8.8 log mile due to a slide and settlement.

OVERTON COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on SR-85 (Wilder Highway) in both directions from LM 18.4 to LM 22.4:

SR-85 is closed between LM 18.4 and LM 22.4. The closure is due to a slide and settlement. The road is barricaded and impassable to motorists.

PUTNAM COUNTY I-40 (near MM 296) Bridge repair on Rocky Point Road over I-40:

The Rocky Point Road Bridge at LM 10.08 over I-40 will be closed due to bridge repairs and will re-open in June 2019. A detour is in place to guide motorists around the bridge closure. The contractor will be performing lane closures on I-40 from MM 295 to MM 298 during this period. Lane closures will be performed between the hours of 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM in the westbound direction. Motorists are advised to use caution and be alert to all construction signage while traveling through the work zone.  Estimated project completion date is August 2019.

PUTNAM COUNTY  I-40 Interchange lighting at the junction of Mine Lick Creek Road (LM 15.56/MM 283):

The contractor will be performing lane closures on I-40 from MM 282 to MM 284 during this period to install high mast lighting poles and underpass lighting. Lane closures will be performed between the hours of 9:00 PM and 5:00 AM. Motorists should use caution and be alert to all construction signage while traveling through the work zone.  Estimated project completion date is April 2019.

PUTNAM COUNTY SR-111 (LM 4.08) at I-40 (MM288) Installation of signals on east and westbound ramps in Cookeville, including grading, drainage and paving:

The contractor will be installing conduit for the traffic signal systems along SR-111 in both directions and along each of the I-40 ramps. This will result in temporary shoulder closures each day. Motorists should use caution when traveling through the work zone. Estimated project completion date is June 2019.

PUTNAM COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on I-40 eastbound from MM 271.3 to MM 272.5:

I-40 eastbound will be reduced to one lane from approximately MM 271.3 to 272.5 between 7:30 AM and 3:30 PM on Thursday, 03/21/19 for tree removal.

PUTNAM COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on I-40 westbound from MM 272.5 to MM 270.8:

I-40 westbound will be reduced to one lane from approximately MM 272.5 to 270.8 between 7:30 AM and 3:30 PM on Friday, 03/22/19 for slide cleanup.

PUTNAM COUNTY Utility Work on SR-136 (N. Washington Ave.) both directions from LM 4.3 to LM 5.4:

Between Freeze Street and Bradley Street, work will take place involving the replacement of water/sewer services and relocation of a fire hydrant between 4th & 6th Street. Signage, barrels, and cones will be present during this work from 01/17/19 to 03/30/19 between 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Motorists should use caution and be aware of flaggers.

DISTRICT 28

BLEDSOE COUNTY SR-101 Bridge repair over Bee Creek (LM 8.98):

Work on this project is underway. For the safety of the traveling public, the bridge will be reduced to one 10 foot lane and controlled with temporary signals. RESTRICTIONS: 10 foot lane. Estimated project completion date is September 2019.

COFFEE COUNTY I-24 Resurfacing from Bedford County (MM 96) to Noah Fork Creek (MM 101) including bridge deck repair:

Beginning Friday, 03/22/19 at 7:00 PM thru Monday, 03/25/19 at 6:00 AM, the contractor will be performing bridge repairs. During the time frame specified above, the work process will be continuous (24 hours a day). Beginning Monday night (03/25/19) the contractor will begin milling and paving the roadway surface. Motorists should use extreme caution. Law enforcement and safety personnel will be present.  Estimated project completion date is August 2019.

FRANKLIN COUNTY Utility Work on SR-476 (Mansford Rd.) eastbound from LM 3.3 to LM 3.6:

There will be a westbound lane closure on the bridge over Tims Ford Lake for utility maintenance from 03/11/19 to 03/30/19 between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. An automated signal red-light will be used. Motorists should reduce speed, and be prepared to stop.

MARION COUNTY Rock fall mitigation on I-24 westbound at MM 136.2:

Work is continuing at this time. During this reporting period, the contractor is working to restore the roadway to its original alignment. The roadway will be reduced to one or two lanes during the finalization of project work. Expect lane closures during the daytime for the paving process from 8:00 AM until 6:00 PM. Motorist should use extreme caution. Law enforcement and Safety Personnel will be present.  Estimated project completion date is May 2019.

MARION COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on SR-2 (US-HWY. 41) both directions from LM 25.6:

Slide repair work has the route reduced to one lane with traffic signals controlling alternating directions. RESTRICTIONS: SR-2 (US-41) both directions at LM 25.6 any wide load greater than 12 feet or long load greater than 53 feet is restricted on this section of roadway. Estimated project completion date is June 2019.

MARION COUNTY Utility Work on I-24 both directions from MM 1.27 to MM 2.34:

At the Hwy 28/Hwy 41 interchange, there will be a rolling road block eastbound and westbound on SR-28 & ramps for overhead utility work. Flaggers will be present, 2 passes at a 15 minute intervals. This work will take place on 03/26/19 between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM.

MARION COUNTY SR-156 over Running Water Creek (LM 25.58) Bridge rehabilitation:

SR-156 is reduced to one 10 foot lane across Running Water Creek Bridge and is controlled with a temporary traffic signal while the bridge is repaired. The contractor will be shifting lane closure to the next phase of construction. While the contractor is working, traffic will be controlled by flaggers. Please use caution when traveling through this area. RESTRICTIONS: 10 foot lane. Estimated project completion date is October 2019.

SEQUATCHIE COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on SR-8 (RANKIN AVE.) westbound from LM 15.19 to LM 15.20:

The westbound shoulder of Rankin Avenue will be closed at MM 15.2 for concrete repairs weekdays from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

WARREN COUNTY SR-288 Construction of a concrete bulb-tee beam bridge over Collins River (LM 4.97), including grading, drainage and paving:

The bridge is currently reduced to one 10.5-foot lane to allow the contractor to construct the new bridge. While the bridge is down to one lane, traffic will be maintained and controlled by a temporary signal. RESTRICTIONS: 10.5-foot max width. Estimated project completion date is September 2019.

WARREN COUNTY SR-8 over Collins River (LM 8.14) Bridge Repair:

The bridge is currently reduced to one 11-ft. lane to allow the contractor to repair the existing bridge. While the bridge is down to one lane, traffic will be maintained and controlled by a temporary signal for the safety of the traveling public. Motorists should expect periodic delays and use caution in the work zone. RESTRICTIONS: 11-ft max width. Estimated project completion date is August 2019.

WARREN COUNTY Utility Work on SR-287 (Great Falls Road) in both directions from LM 34.95 to LM 38.63:

Mobile, intermittent lane closures for aerial and underground utility work will take place. Signage and flaggers will be present. Motorists should reduce speed and be aware of personnel and equipment from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  Estimated project completion date is March 2019.

Pipe replacement and drainage work is taking place. A flagging operation will control traffic.

BRADLEY COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on SR-60 (Georgetown Road NW) both directions from Eureka Rd (LM 20) to Hamilton County Line (LM 25):

Pipe replacement and drainage work is taking place. A flagging operation will control traffic. Estimated project completion date is March 2019.

BRADLEY COUNTY US-64BP (US-74, SR-311) Resurfacing from east of Goldstar Drive (LM 3.08) to east of McGrady Drive (LM 5.00), including bridge deck repair:

Starting on Sunday, 03/31/19, there will be nightly lane closures from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, Monday thru Thursday nights as the contractor starts milling and paving the roadway. Expect delays as the work will last until the end of May. Estimated project completion date is May 2019.

BRADLEY AND MCMINN COUNTY SR-306 Miscellaneous safety improvements from SR-60 (LM 0) to the Meigs County line (LM 8.58), and on SR-307 from Burnett Road (LM 2.18) to Old Mount Harmony Road (LM 6.07):

Starting on Thursday of this reporting period, the contractor will have intermittent lane closures on SR-307 in McMinn County from LM 2.18 - LM 6.07. Please use caution when traveling through this area. Estimated project completion date is July 2019.

BRADLEY AND MCMINN COUNTY SR-312 (Bradley County) Miscellaneous safety improvements from the Hamilton Co. Line (LM 0.00) to Quill Dr. (LM 5.27); US-11 (SR-2) (McMinn County) miscellaneous safety improvements from Sanford Rd. (LM 4.05) to Chapel Rd. (LM 12.32):

Work on this project is underway. The contractor will work in Bradley County on SR-312 during this report period. There will be intermittent lane closures. Flaggers will assist with traffic control. Estimated project completion date is June 2019.

Survey parties and geotechnical crews will be on site at various locations. Shoulders may be closed at various locations between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

HAMILTON COUNTY US-27 (I-124) Widening from I-24/US-27 interchange to north of the Olgiati Bridge over the Tennessee River, including widening the Olgiati Bridge:

Work on this project continues with activities occurring on the west side of southbound US-27. Motorists should be alert for construction vehicles entering and exiting the area along the access ramps for east and westbound M. L. King Boulevard. The speed limit for the access ramp is 35 MPH. The 12th Street tie-in ramp to US-27 South has been temporarily closed. This closure will be in place until further notice. Additionally, the southbound ramp from W. Main Street to southbound US-27 has been temporarily closed and will remain so until further notice. Detours are posted. Motorists should pay close attention to the detour signage posted. The speed limit on US-27 in the construction zone remains 45 MPH. Weather permitting; the contractor may implement temporary lane/shoulder closures on weeknights between the hours of 7:00 PM and 6:00 AM. At least one lane will remain open in each direction on US-27. From 03/26/19 - 03/27/19 between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, a shoulder closure will take place for fence repair.

HAMILTON COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on SR-153 (STATE HWY. 153) northbound from LM 7.0 to LM 7.0:

On 3/25/19 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, the ramp will be closed for a slide repair.

HAMILTON COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on SR-8 (Market Street) in both directions from LM 9.68 to LM 9.68:

Bridge Inspection will perform the scheduled lift operations of the Market Street Bridge this Sunday, March 24, 2019 from 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM. All lanes will be closed during the inspection.

HAMILTON COUNTY Utility Work on SR-321 (Ooltewah-Ringgold Road) northbound at LM 4.43: A 2 inch water main for a new subdivision (Barnsley Park) between Collier PI. and Bill Reed Rd. Total completion will take approximately one day. Flaggers will be present while lane is closed. From: 03/21/19 to 03/27/19, between: 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

HAMILTON COUNTY Utility Work on SR-8 (East Main Street) in both directions from LM 7.64 to LM 7.64:

Cut pavement to connect sanitary sewer line on East Main St between Adams St. & Jefferson St. at the Southwest corner of Main St. & Jefferson St. Flaggers, signs & barrels will be present. From: 03/21/19 to 03/27/19, between: 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-153 Resurfacing from I-75 (LM 0.00) to Shallowford Road (LM 2.60), including bridge deck repair:

SR-153 SB and SR-153 NB may have lane and shoulder closures Monday through Friday between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM to allow for the removal of construction signs in median and along outside shoulders.  Estimated project completion date is March 2019.

HAMILTON COUNTY Cleaning of the McCallie Tunnel on US-11 (US-64, SR-2), the Stringers Ridge Tunnel on US-127 (SR-8), and the Bachman Tubes on US-41 (US-76, SR-8):

The McCallie tunnel is scheduled to be cleaned on Wednesday, 03/27/19 (8:00 PM – 6:00 AM) under a flagging operation. The Stringers Ridge tunnel will be cleaned that same night under a signed detour traffic control operation. Estimated project completion date is June 2019.

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-111 (LM 1.5) Replacement of a collapsed 42" corrugated metal pipe, including grading, drainage, and paving:

The contractor will be completing various safety improvements at the intersection of SR-58 & Birchwood Pike Monday thru Saturday between 5:00 AM and 6:00 PM. No southbound traffic restrictions will be allowed between 5:00 AM and 9:00 AM. No northbound traffic restrictions will be allowed between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed. Estimated project completion date is April 2019.

HAMILTON COUNTY US-11/64 SR-2 (Brainerd Rd./Lee Hwy.) Resurfacing from east of Moore Road (LM 13.85) to east of Airport Road (LM 15.84):

During this report period, the contractor may have intermittent lane restrictions while adjusting ADA ramps. This operation will take place Monday thru Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This work may affect either direction of SR-2 (Brainerd Road/Lee Highway) and between Moore Rd & Airport Rd. Flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed. Estimated project completion date is March 2019.

MCMINN COUNTY SR-30, Grading, drainage and paving on SR-30 from Jackson Street to east of Knight Road in Athens:

All traffic has been shifted into its phase two configuration. This will involve traffic using the newly built east bound portion of SR-30. Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction with turning lanes provided at critical intersections and business accesses.  Estimated project completion date is April 2020.

MCMINN COUNTY I-75 Resurfacing from north of County Road 267 (MM 55) to the Monroe County line (MM 60):

During this reporting period, the contractor will be having the right lane closed starting in the Southbound lanes from MM 55 to MM 60. The contractor will be working Thursday thru Friday, and Sunday thru Wednesday from 7:00 PM- 6:00 AM, weather permitting. THP will be on site to assist with traffic control. Estimated project completion date is August 2019.

POLK COUNTY US-64 (SR-40) Construction of a concrete bulb-tee beam bridge over Branch and TOHA Old Line railroad (LM 24.85), including grading, drainage and paving:

The contractor has shifted traffic onto the new bridge. There will be intermittent lane closures as the contractor works to finish up on the project. Estimated project completion date is May 2019.

RHEA COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on SR-302 (Old Stage Road) northbound from LM 1.5 to LM 2.5:

On 3/21/19 and from 3/25/19 - 3/27/19 between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM maintenance crews will be reshaping the ditches along this stretch of roadway.

RHEA COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on SR-68 (Wassom Memorial Highway) in both directions at LM 5.5:

The roadway is reduced to one lane and signalized 24/7 due to a roadway settlement.

RHEA COUNTY Utility Work on SR-68 (Watts Bar Highway) in both directions from LM 15.05 to LM 15.15:

There will be a lane closure prior to the bridge traveling north east in the NB/EB lane, from TVA switchyard to Watts Bar Dam bridge. There will be a rolling closure on the bridge to change out light fixtures. Flaggers and work zone signs will be present on 03/23/19 between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

 

REGION WIDE

REGION 2 TDOT Maintenance drainage work:

There will be possible short-term lane and shoulder closures at various locations in Region 2 in order to clean rock and debris from ditches on an as-needed basis. One lane will be maintained at all times.

REGION 2 TDOT Maintenance pothole repair and pavement patching:

There will be possible short-term emergency lane closures at various locations in Region 2 in order to repair potholes and patch pavement on an as-needed basis. Depending on the location and severity these repairs may be done during the day or at night. In addition to performing the work, regional Operations crews will also provide traffic control.

REGION 2 On-call guardrail repair and new guardrail installation on various interstate and state routes:

The contractor may have short term shoulder and/or lane closures in order to perform guardrail repair. These closures will take place on the interstate nightly from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM Sundays through Thursdays and daily on state routes. At least one travel lane will remain open to traffic at all times on the interstate, and flaggers will be present on state routes during any work that is performed.  Estimated project completion date is June 2019.

REGION 2 Preventative and unscheduled maintenance of Chattanooga SmartWay Intelligent Transportation System:

The contractor may have short term shoulder and/or lane closures in order to perform preventative or unscheduled maintenance to the local SmartWay Intelligent Transportation System. Work hours are 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. At least one travel lane will remain open to traffic at all times. Flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed. Estimated project completion date is October 2019.

REGION 2 On-call cable barrier repair on various interstate and state routes:

The contractor may have short term shoulder closures in order to perform cable rail repair. Both travel lanes will remain open to traffic at all times on the interstate during any work that is performed. Estimated project completion date is December 2019.

REGION 2 Sweeping and drain cleaning on various interstate and state routes:

There will be mobile lane closures supporting a sweeping operation along regional interstates and highways through this reporting period. The sweeping activity will happen Sunday through Thursday (8:00 PM to 6:00 AM). Drain cleaning along SR-153 NB & SB (LM 0 to 6) will continue Sunday through Thursday (8:00 PM to 6:00 AM). The drain cleaning activity will involve inside lane closures and some outside shoulder closures.  Estimated project completion date is February 2020.

In 2016, the Tennessee Department of Transportation lost three workers in the line of duty. All three were struck by passing motorists.
