DISTRICT 27

 

CLAY COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on SR-52 (LIVINGSTON HWY.) both directions from LM 25.7 to LM 25.8:   Crews will be spot milling and paving the roadway on Tuesday 8/21/18. One lane of traffic will be maintained with a flagging operation.

 

CLAY COUNTY SR-53 bridge repair over the Obey River (LM 8.89):   Contractor will be onsite applying texture finish to bridge at LM 8.89. Shoulder closures will be used to accommodate this work. Motorists are encouraged to obey speed limit and watch for construction vehicles. Estimated project completion date is August 2018.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY I-40 West near MM 326, construction of a truck climbing lane, including grading, drainage, construction of retaining walls and paving:   The contractor continues to work on punch list items with no lane closures expected at this time. Work may involve periodic closures of the outside shoulder. The newly constructed truck climbing lane has been opened to motorists.  Estimated project completion date is August 2018.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY SR-101 (Peavine Road) grading, drainage, and paving from Firetower Road to Westchester/Catoosa Boulevard:   As grade work progresses, motorists should be alert for shifts in traffic patterns to allow for construction activities. Current activities include utility relocation, grade work, storm drain, base stone, and curb and gutter. Temporary lane closures and traffic stoppages may be needed to support ongoing work. Motorists should reduce speeds on Peavine Road and be alert for construction personnel and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.  Estimated project completion date is November 2020.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY US-127 (SR-28) from Plateau Road (LM 22.68) to the bridge over Clear Creek (LM 30.50) and SR-298 from north of Redmond Lane (LM 6.75) to south of Roy McCoy Road (LM 12.38) resurfacing (microsurfacing):   Beginning August 20, 2018, the contractor will be installing construction signs and replacing guardrail on SR 298 Genesis Road. This work will require lanes closures and motorists need to be alert for construction personnel and equipment working on the roadway.  Estimated project completion date is September 2018.

CUMBERLAND AND PUTNAM COUNTY I-40 resurfacing from Putnam County line to near the parking area, and from west of Exit 300 to the Cumberland County line.:   The contractor continues resurfacing activities on I-40 between mile markers 301 and 307. Work that requires lane closures will be performed Sunday through Thursday nights from 8 pm to 6 am with state trooper support. Work includes installing delineators, fog sealing shoulders, and installing permanent pavement markings.  Estimated project completion date is August 2018.

JACKSON COUNTY SR-56 Resurfacing from SR-53 (LM 10.94) to near bridge over Germany Branch (LM 17.75):   Contractor has scheduled this project to begin around 09/18. No work will be performed this week. Estimated project completion date is November 2018.

OVERTON COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on SR-111 (COOKEVILLE HWY.) both directions from LM 7.6 to LM 11.8:   Crews will be spot milling and paving the roadway beginning on Wednesday 08/22/18. One lane of traffic will be maintained with a flagging operation.

 

OVERTON COUNTY SR-136 Resurfacing from SR-85 (LM 9.21) to SR-52 (LM 16.6):   Contractor is scheduled to pave SR 136 this week between LM 9.21 and 16.6. Lane closures and flagging operations will be used to accommodate this work. Motorists are encouraged to obey speed limit and watch for construction signs and vehicles in this area. RESTRICTIONS: Wide loads over 10' in width should seek alternate route due to construction equipment in roadway. Estimated project completion date is November 2018.

WHITE COUNTY US-70 (SR-26) intersection improvements at SR-111 in Sparta:   Work continues on this project. The right lane of SR-26 Eastbound is closed to traffic near the SR-111 northbound off-ramp. The contractor will perform placement of new concrete pavement along the right side of the SR-111 northbound off-ramp. All motorists will be diverted onto a temporary section of roadway to the left of the existing ramp to provide ease of movement through the work zone. Motorists can expect temporary intermittent lane closures during this time. Motorists should be alert, pay attention to all construction signage, and use extreme caution around construction personnel and equipment.  Estimated project completion date is August 2018.

WHITE COUNTY US-70 resurfacing in Sparta:   Work on this project continues. Contractor is currently removing and replacing sidewalk along SR-1 resulting in temporary lane closures during daytime hours. Flaggers will be present to assist with traffic control as needed. Motorists are advised to observe the posted speed limits when entering the work zone, and to be alert of all construction personnel, equipment and vehicles. Routes included in this project are US-70 (SR-1) from the SR-111 overpass (LM 7.69) to near Luther Road (LM 10.61); US-70 (SR-26) from east of Creekside Place (LM 9.82) to Moore Street(LM 10.79); and SR-84 from US-70 (SR-1) (LM 0.00) to near College Street (LM 0.12)  Estimated project completion date is September 2018.

DISTRICT 28

 

BLEDSOE COUNTY The resurfacing (microsurface or thin mix overlay) on SR-30 from the Van Buren County line (LM 0.00) to east of Bob Sapp Road (LM 5.58).:   Guard Rail will be installed on projects August 7-9th road will be reduced to one lane controlled by flagging. The contractor plans on beginning resurfacing on August 22nd. Road will be reduced to 1 lane controlled by flagging.  Estimated project completion date is September 2018.

FRANKLIN COUNTY SR-127 the construction of a concrete bulb-tee beam bridge over the Elk River (LM 6.21), including grading, drainage and paving:   Work on this project continues. On August 20th, 22nd and 23rd the contractor will set concrete beams on the bridge; there will be 3 separate intermittent road closures daily for approximately 15 minutes each while the contractor sets concrete beams on the bridge. RESTRICTIONS: Bridge will be reduced to one 10.5’ lane and controlled with a temporary traffic signal until further notice. Estimated project completion date is December 2018.

FRANKLIN COUNTY SR-476 bridge repair over the Elk River (LM 3.39) and Hurricane Creek (LM 7.40):   The project is in progress. RESTRICTIONS: The bridge is reduced to one 9’ lane and controlled with a temporary traffic signal until further notice. Estimated project completion date is October 2018.

GRUNDY COUNTY I-24 sliplining of culverts at various locations between mile markers 129 and 134:   The contractor will be working on the sliplining project on I-24 of culverts at various locations between MM 129 and 134. This work will be taking place Monday - Friday 7 AM - 5 PM. During this time there will be no outside shoulder. Estimated project completion date is August 2018.

GRUNDY COUNTY SR-50 slide repair at log mile 9.9:   Slide repair is underway on SR 50, in Grundy County @ 9.4 MM-10.0 MM. The roadway is reduced to one lane. Portable Traffic Signals are in place at both ends to control traffic. This lane closure is in effect until this project is completed.  Estimated project completion date is September 2018.

GRUNDY COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on SR-399 (BAKERTOWN RD.) both directions from LM 1.3 to LM 1.4:   Other maintenance will begin 08/16/18 through 08/22/18, from 6:30 PM to 4:00 PM, weekdays. Crews will be repairing washouts along the roadway in both directions, reducing roadway to one lane.

 

GRUNDY COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on SR-56 both directions from LM 30. to LM 30.2:   Maintenance repairs are scheduled to take place on 08/16/18 through 08/22/18 from 6:30 AM to 4:00 PM, weekdays. Crews will be repairing washed out locations along the roadway. Roadway will be temporarily closed to one lane as repairs are completed.

 

GRUNDY COUNTY SR-399 resurfacing from SR-108 (LM 0.0) to the Sequatchie County line (LM 4.8):   Contractor will be resurfacing SR 399. Road will be reduced to one lane controlled by flagging and a pilot car. Estimated project completion date is November 2018.

MARION COUNTY I-24 miscellaneous safety improvements from SR-156 (MM 161) to the Georgia State line (MM 167).:   Contractor will begin working on Sunday August 19 through Thursday August 31 from 8PM Central to 5AM Central Time on I 24 EB & WB throughout the night from between the Tennessee Line in Hamilton County to Exit 161 in Marion County. There will be intermittent lane closures throughout the night as the contractor delineates the guardrail and installs new signs.  Estimated project completion date is October 2018.

MARION COUNTY I-24 WB resurfacing from the Grundy County line (MM 127) to east of the bridge over Cave Cove Creek (MM 134):   The resurfacing will continue on this project. The contractor will have lane closures in order to perform the necessary work. These closures will take place on the interstate nightly with State Trooper support on Sundays through Fridays between the hours of 7PM and 6AM. Motorists should use extreme caution and be alert to construction equipment and workers. Safety personnel will be present.  Estimated project completion date is September 2018.

MARION COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on I-24 westbound from MM 161.0 to MM 162.6:   Mowing will begin 08/16/18 through 08/22/18, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, weekdays. Crews will be cutting back bushes that are interfering with sight distance causing roadway to be reduced to one lane in both directions.

 

MARION COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on SR-2 (HWY. 41) both directions from LM 13.0 to LM 16.:   Drainage Work will begin 08/16/18 through 08/22/18, from 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM, weekdays. Crews will be reshaping ditches and washing out tiles in both directions, reducing roadway to one lane.

 

MARION COUNTY SR-156 over Running Water Creek (LM 25.58) bridge rehabilitation:   Traffic light will be installed on SR-156 at Running Water Creek. During installation of the traffic light, the road will at times be reduced to one lane controlled by flagging.  Estimated project completion date is October 2019.

SEQUATCHIE COUNTY US-127 (SR-8) resurfacing from the Hamilton County line (LM 0.00) to north of Progress Drive (LM 5.22):   The resurfacing operation is ongoing. Milling and paving operations will be performed during daytime hours, and the road will be reduced to one lane while workers are present. Estimated project completion date is September 2018.

While the bridge is down to one lane, traffic will be maintained and controlled by a temporary signal for the safety of the traveling public. Motorists should expect periodic delays and use caution in the work zone. RESTRICTIONS: One 11-foot lane. Estimated project completion date is August 2019.

DISTRICT 29

 

BRADLEY COUNTY SR 60 resurfacing from the Georgia State line (LM 0.0) to north of Helms Lane SE (LM 3.8):   The contractor will possibly have temporary lane closures as the contractor will be working on installing the scoring(rumble strips) on the shoulders and installing the permanent pavement markings on this project. During these activities, there will be a moving traffic control as work is done. Estimated project completion date is November 2018.

HAMILTON COUNTY I-75 North Exit 1 interchange reconfiguration project at mile marker 1:   Work on this project continues. There is now only one exit ramp that allows drivers to turn both east and west on Ringgold Road at a signalized intersection. Traffic has been shifted onto the newly constructed portion of Camp Jordan Pkwy., and the intersection (I-75 NB off-ramp and SR-8/Camp Jordan Pkwy.) is now controlled by a traffic signal. Estimated project completion date is August 2018.

HAMILTON COUNTY US-27 (I-124) widening from I-24/US-27 interchange to north of the Olgiati Bridge over the Tennessee River, including widening the Olgiati Bridge:   Work on this project continues with numerous activities occurring in the median of US-27. Motorists should be alert for construction vehicles entering and leaving the left traffic lane in both the northbound and southbound directions. The 12th Street tie-in ramp to US-27 South has been temporarily closed. This closure will be in place through 09/18. Detours are posted. On Thursday 08/16/18 and Friday 08/17/18 nights, from 7 PM to 6 AM, a temporary ramp closures will be in place for the southbound US-27 off ramp to W. 4th Street and the W. 4th Street on ramp to southbound US-27. Southbound US-27 to W. 4th Street traffic will be redirected to Exit 1B, merging onto the eastbound Martin Luther King Blvd., then left on to Chestnut Street then northbound to 4th Street. The on ramp from W. 4th Street to southbound US-27 will be redirected northbound onto US-27 to the Manufacturers Road Exit, then left on Manufacturers Road and then right to southbound US-27 Motorists should exercise caution when traveling through the construction zone and pay close attention to the detour signage posted. The speed limit on US-27 in the construction zone remains 45 MPH. Weather permitting, the contractor may implement temporary lane/shoulder closures on weeknights between the hours of 7 PM and 6 AM. At least one lane will remain open in each direction on US-27. THP will assist with traffic control on the project as necessary. RESTRICTIONS: Northbound US-27 off-ramp Exit 1C to 4th Street is restricted to a maximum width of 11 Feet. Estimated project completion date is January 2020.

HAMILTON COUNTY US-127 (SR-8) slope repair of Signal Mountain Blvd. at log mile 15.9:   During this report period, the contractor will have one lane closed while performing slope stabilization operations. Temporary traffic signals are in place on either end of the project to control traffic. Additionally the speed limit has been lowered to 20 MPH in the construction zone. Additional flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed.  Estimated project completion date is September 2018.

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-153 resurfacing from I-75 (LM 0.00) to Shallowford Road (LM 2.60), including bridge deck repair:   This project will involve nightly lane closures (8 PM to 6AM) to support the project activities. This will involve both NB & SB lane closures, Sunday through Thursday. Project completion date is 11/30/18. Estimated project completion date is November 2018.

HAMILTON COUNTY cleaning of the McCallie Tunnel on US-11 (US-64, SR-2), the Stringers Ridge Tunnel on US-127 (SR-8), and the Bachman Tubes on US-41 (US-76, SR-8):   The McCallie Tunnel will be closed for cleaning on Wednesday, 08/22/18 (8 PM to 6 AM). This will involve a flagging operation, with one way traffic. Also, the Stringers Ridge tunnel will be cleaned 08/22/18 (8 PM to 6 AM). Bachman Tubes will be cleaned on 08/23/18 (8 PM to 6 AM). Both the Stringer's Ridge and the Bachman Tube cleaning will have a signed detour to direct traffic. Estimated project completion date is June 2019.

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-320 (East Brainerd Road) grading, drainage, installation of signals, construction of seven retaining walls and paving from east of Graysville Road to east of Bel-Air Road:   During this report period, the contractor will have intermittent lane closures between 9AM-2PM. This work may affect either direction of East Brainerd Road or side streets from Graysville Road to Bel-Air Road. HAMILTON COUNTY US-11/64 SR-2 (Brainerd Rd./Lee Hwy.) resurfacing from east of Moore Road (LM 13.85) to east of Airport Road (LM 15.84):   The contractor has begun lowering manholes and catch basins. This will take place Monday through Friday between 9AM and 3PM. This work may affect either direction of US-11/64 (Brainerd Road/Lee Highway) between Moore Rd. and Airport Rd. The contractor will begin milling and paving on August 26th, after which the contractor will have intermittent lane closures for resurfacing operations Sunday through Thursday from 8PM to 6AM. MCMINN COUNTY SR-30, grading, drainage and paving on SR-30 from Jackson Street to east of Knight Road in Athens:   Traffic along SR29 through the project's length has been restricted to one lane in each direction with turning lanes provided at critical intersections and business access. This phase one construction activity has all traffic on the previous westbound side of SR30. All businesses are provided with accessibility. No additional lane closures are scheduled this reporting period.  Estimated project completion date is October 2019.

MCMINN COUNTY I-75 resurfacing from south of SR-30 (MM 48.69/LM 13.75) to north of County Road 267 (MM 55.44/LM 20.50):   There will be lane closures at night from 7 PM-6 AM Sunday- Thursday night as the contractor works on paving the roadway on I-75 in the Northbound lanes first then moving to the Southbound lanes. There will be State Troopers out on the project during working hours. The speed limit has been changed from 70 MPH to 60 MPH in the project limits. Estimated project completion date is September 2018.

POLK COUNTY US-64 (SR-40) construction of a concrete bulb-tee beam bridge over Branch and TOHA Old Line railroad (LM 24.85), including grading, drainage and paving:   The contractor has cut the embankment for the retaining wall. The Pinecrest Road intersection has been closed. There are posted detour signs for residents to get to their homes on Pinecrest Road. This road will be closed during the duration of the construction of the Retaining Wall on US64. There will be intermittent lane closures on the project as trucks will be entering the road and the contractor will be working on utility lines that cross US64. Estimated project completion date is May 2019.

RHEA AND BLEDSOE COUNTY US-27 (Rhea Co.) and SR-30 (Bledsoe Co.) resurfacing:   The project limits include SR-30 from east of Porch Rock Road (LM 16.43) to the Rhea County line (LM 18.43) in Bledsoe County and US-27 (SR-29) from north of Black Oaks Estates Drive (LM 2.50) to north of SR-60 (LM 4.90) in Rhea County. Beginning Monday, 8/20/2018, a flagging operation on SR-30 in Bledsoe County will support a thin lift milling & paving operation. This will be a daytime activity. Beginning Sunday night, 8/19/2018, a milling & paving operation will begin on US-27 in Rhea County. This will be a nighttime operation from 8 PM to 6 AM requiring lane closures. There will be shoulder closures to support drainage structure work in the daytime throughout this reporting period.  Estimated project completion date is October 2018.

REGION 2 on-call guardrail repair and new guardrail installation on various interstate and state routes:   The contractor may have short term shoulder and/or lane closures in order to perform guardrail repair. These closures will take place on the interstate nightly from 7PM to 6AM Sundays through Thursdays and daily on State Routes. At least one travel lane will remain open to traffic at all times on the Interstate, and flaggers will be present on State Routes during any work that is performed.  Estimated project completion date is June 2019.

REGION 2 preventative and unscheduled maintenance of Chattanooga SmartWay Intelligent Transportation System:   The contractor may have short term shoulder and/or lane closures in order to perform preventative or unscheduled maintenance to the local SmartWay Intelligent Transportation System. Work hours are 9AM to 3:30PM. At least one travel lane will remain open to traffic at all times. REGION 2 longitudinal joint stabilization on various state routes:   The contractor will have short term shoulder and/or lane closures in order to perform longitudinal joint stabilization on various state routes. At least one travel lane will remain open to traffic at all times. Flagger will assist with traffic control as needed. Estimated project completion date is August 2018.

REGION 2 On-call concrete pavement repair:  TDOT contract crews will make concrete repairs this weekend on I‑24 West in lane #2 (slow lane) near mile marker 179 in Chattanooga, Hamilton County.  The work area on I-24 West extends past Exit 178 (U.S. 27 North) to the Williams Street on-ramp.  Also, there will be concrete repair work on the left side of the Williams Street on-ramp to I-24 West.  In preparation for the repairs, the contractor will be sawing several damaged and deteriorating concrete sections prior to the weekend repairs.  They will do this work on Wednesday night, August 22, 2018 between the hours of 8:00 p.m. EDT and 6:00 a.m. the following morning.  If they do not complete sawing all of the damaged concrete on Wednesday night, they will work again on Thursday night, August 23, 2018 during the same hours.  Beginning on Friday night, August 24, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. EDT and extending to no later than 6:00 a.m. EDT on Monday morning, August 27, 2018 the contractor will make concrete repairs on I-24 West in lane #2 near mile marker 179 and on the on-ramp from Williams Street.  This work will consist of removing the previously-cut damaged concrete slabs and re-pouring them with new concrete, which will need several hours to harden enough to handle traffic.  During this work and while the concrete sets, lane #2 on I-24 West near mile marker 179 will be closed to traffic, and the Williams Street on-ramp will be narrowed.  One lane will remain open on I-24 and traffic can still access I-24 West from Williams Street, but there will be a major traffic impact.  Estimated project completion date is March 2019.

RESTRICTIONS

OVERTON COUNTY - CNS178: Wide loads over 10' in width should seek alternate route due to construction equipment in roadway.

FRANKLIN COUNTY - CNR044: Bridge will be reduced to one 10.5’ lane and controlled with a temporary traffic signal until further notice.

FRANKLIN COUNTY - CNQ930: The bridge is reduced to one 9’ lane and controlled with a temporary traffic signal until further notice.

WARREN COUNTY - CNQ270: Reduced to one 12-ft lane.

WARREN COUNTY - CNS254: One 11-foot lane.

HAMILTON COUNTY - CNP230: Northbound US-27 off-ramp Exit 1C to 4th Street is restricted to a maximum width of 11 Feet.
