DISTRICT 27

 

CUMBERLAND COUNTY I-40 West near MM 326, construction of a truck climbing lane, including grading, drainage, construction of retaining walls and paving:   Lane closures may be required during this period with state trooper support. Remaining construction activities include shoulder stone, installation of permanent pavement markings, permanent signs, and delineators. The right shoulder will remain closed for the duration of the project.  Estimated project completion date is June 2018.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY SR-101 (Peavine Road) grading, drainage, and paving from Firetower Road to Westchester/Catoosa Boulevard:   As grade work progresses, motorists should be alert for shifts in traffic patterns to allow for construction activities. Temporary lane closures and traffic stoppages may be needed to support grade work activities. Motorists should reduce speeds on Peavine Road and be alert for construction personnel and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.  Estimated project completion date is November 2020.

CUMBERLAND AND PUTNAM COUNTY I-40 resurfacing from Putnam County line to near the parking area, and from west of Exit 300 to the Cumberland County line.:   The contractor will be cold planing and/or paving eastbound and westbound lanes of I-40 including the ramps at exits (mile markers) 300 and 301. This work will be performed Sunday through Thursday nights from 8 pm to 6 am and will require temporary lane closures with state trooper support.  Estimated project completion date is August 2018.

FENTRESS COUNTY SR-28 Construction of an acceleration lane (LM 21) and safety improvements near the Jamestown City limits (LM 20.78) to the Pickett County line (LM 33.58):   Contractor will be on site this week intermittently to install permanent roadway markings. Motorists are encouraged to obey posted speed limit and pay attention to posted construction signs. Estimated project completion date is June 2018.

OVERTON COUNTY SR-52 grading, drainage, signals and paving from near Oakley-Allons Road (LM 6.58) to SR-111 (LM 10.23):   Contractor will be on site working on shoulder stone for Phase 2 of the project. Crews have began paving. Motorists are encouraged to use caution while traveling through work zone and pay attention to construction vehicles entering and exiting the work area. Estimated project completion date is July 2018.

PICKETT COUNTY Utility Work on SR-325 eastbound from LM 4.71 to LM 4.87:   EB on SR325 at Olympus Drive, installation of water valve and box. Flaggers and Flagger Signage will be present. 6/7/2018 - 6/29/2018 8 AM - 4PM.

 

PICKETT COUNTY safety improvements on US-127 (SR-28) from SR-295 (LM 3.37) to the KY state line (LM 7.04):   Contractor is scheduled to be on site intermittently this week to continue work installing permanent roadway signs. Motorists are encouraged to obey posted speed limit and watch for construction signs. Estimated project completion date is June 2018.

PUTNAM COUNTY I-40 grading, drainage, construction of two concrete bulb-tee beam bridges, signals and paving at Mine Lick Creek Road (MM 283/LM 15.56) and construction of a State Industrial Access Road (Mine Lick Creek Road) serving Project Victor, including grading, drainage and paving:   Substantial work has been completed on this project and the interchange at Exit 283 is now open to all lanes of traffic. The contractor is currently working to complete remaining work items which may result in temporary lane closures throughout the project during daytime hours. Flaggers will be present to assist with traffic control as needed. Motorists are advised to observe the posted speed limits when entering the work zone and to be alert to construction personnel, equipment and vehicles. Estimated project completion date is June 2018.

PUTNAM COUNTY SR-135 resurfacing from south of Jackson Street (LM 9.75) to north of SR-290 (LM 11.64):   The contractor is currently working to complete punchlist items. The contractor will utilize temporary nighttime lane closures in one or both directions during this time. WHITE COUNTY Utility Work on SR-111 (SPENCER HWY.) both directions from LM 2.3 to LM 2.3:   NB/SB lane on Spencer Hwy, crossing hwy with single phase power lines. Flaggers and Flagger signage will be present. THP will be present also. 6/18/2018 -7/2/2018 10 AM - 12 PM.

 

WHITE COUNTY US-70 (SR-26) intersection improvements at SR-111 in Sparta:   Work continues on this project. The right shoulder is closed to traffic along SR-26 Eastbound and along the SR-111 Northbound off-ramp. The contractor will perform excavation and placement of new material along the right side of the SR-111 northbound off-ramp. All motorists are diverted onto a temporary section of roadway to the left of the existing ramp to provide ease of movement through the work zone. Motorists can expect temporary intermittent lane closures during this time. Motorists should be alert, pay attention to all construction signage, and use extreme caution around construction personnel and equipment.  Estimated project completion date is August 2018.

CANNON COUNTY SR-145 Resurfacing from north of overhead bridge to SR-96, and from US-70S (SR-1) from west of Mears Drive to west of Bragg Stree:   During this reporting period the contractor will have daily lane closures during resurfacing operations. Flaggers will be present during all lane closures to assist motorist.  Estimated project completion date is September 2018.

COFFEE COUNTY US-41 (SR-2) resurfacing of Hillsboro Blvd. from east of Hendrixson Drive to the bridge over I-24:   Substantial work has been completed on this project, punch list items are still pending completion at this time.  Estimated project completion date is June 2018.

FRANKLIN COUNTY Utility Work on SR-130 (N. HIGH ST.) southbound from LM 14.06 to LM 14.06:   SB on North High Street between 3rd avenue and 5th avenue. Retire (1) water service and make (2) new water taps. Flaggers and Signage will be present. 6/25/2018 - 6/26/2018 8AM - 4PM .

 

FRANKLIN COUNTY SR-127 the construction of a concrete bulb-tee beam bridge over the Elk River (LM 6.21), including grading, drainage and paving:   Work on this project continues. RESTRICTIONS: bridge will be reduced to one 10.5’ lane and controlled with a temporary traffic signal until further notice. Estimated project completion date is October 2018.

FRANKLIN COUNTY SR-476 bridge repair over the Elk River (LM 3.39) and Hurricane Creek (LM 7.40):   The project is in progress. RESTRICTIONS: The bridge is reduced to one 9’ lane and controlled with a temporary traffic signal until further notice. Estimated project completion date is October 2018.

GRUNDY COUNTY I-24 sliplining of culverts at various locations between mile markers 129 and 134:   The contractor will be working on the sliplining project on I-24 of culverts at various locations between MM 129 and 134. This work will be taking place Monday - Friday 7 AM - 5 PM. During this time there will be no outside shoulder. The contractor will have a lane closure on I-24 eastbound fast lane (left lane) between MM 128 and 134. This lane closure will be at night (7 PM - 6 AM) between June 21st and 27th weather permitting. Estimated project completion date is August 2018.

GRUNDY COUNTY SR-50 slide repair at log mile 9.9:   SR-50 is restricted to one lane with signals. TDOT Maintenance and TDOT Geotech are in the process of finalizing a repair plan. Estimated project completion date is June 2018.

GRUNDY COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on I-24 both directions from MM 127 to MM 134.2:   Wednesday, 06/20/18 through Thursday, 06/28/18, eastbound and westbound, 7:30 AM – 3 PM. There will be no outside shoulder in order to grade shoulders.

 

GRUNDY COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on SR-56 (STATE HWY. 56) both directions from LM 20 to LM 33.8:   Wednesday, 06/20/18 through Thursday, 06/28/18, eastbound and westbound, 7:30 AM – 3 PM. Traffic will be temporarily slowed in order to slope mow.

 

MARION COUNTY I-24 WB resurfacing from the Grundy County line (MM 127) to east of the bridge over Cave Cove Creek (MM 134):   The surface milling & paving will continue on this project. The contractor will have lane closures in order to perform the necessary work. These closures will take place on the interstate nightly with State Trooper support from 7PM Sunday through 6AM Friday. Motorists should use extreme caution and be alert to construction equipment and workers. Safety Personnel will be present.  Estimated project completion date is September 2018.

MARION COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on I-24 both directions from MM 134.3 to MM 166.4:   Thursday, 06/21/18 through Friday, 06/22/18, eastbound and westbound, 7 AM – 3:30 PM. There will be no outside shoulder in order to remove litter and debris from shoulder.

 

MARION COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on SR-156 (STATE HWY. 156) both directions from LM 0 to LM 20:   Thursday, 06/21/18 through Monday, 06/27/18, eastbound and westbound, 7 AM – 3:30 PM. Traffic will be reduced to 1 lane in order to cut overgrown brush.

 

MARION COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on SR-2 (US-HWY. 41) both directions from LM 21 to LM 33:   Thursday, 06/21/18 through Friday, 06/22/18, eastbound and westbound, 7 AM – 3:30 PM. Traffic will be reduced to 1 lane in order to clean out ditches and wash out tiles.

 

MARION COUNTY SR-108 Resurfacing from north of Cookston Road (LM 7.67) to Grundy County line (LM 11.01):   The contractor will be installing thermoplastic pavement markings, and there may be intermittent lane closures.  Estimated project completion date is September 2018.

VANBUREN COUNTY SR-111 grading, drainage, and paving from south of Manus Road to south of SR-285 near Double Bridge Road:   The contractor will be addressing punch list items during this report period, which will not affect traffic.  Estimated project completion date is June 2018.

VANBUREN COUNTY SR-30 miscellaneous safety improvements from the Warren County line (LM 0.00) to the Bledsoe County line (LM 22.15):   There will be intermittent lane closures on SR-30 for the installation of new signs, guardrail upgrades, and pavement markings. The contractor will have flaggers present during this work.  Estimated project completion date is July 2018.

VANBUREN COUNTY SR-30 slide repair at LM 16.9:   TDOT personnel and contract crews have begun work to repair section of SR-30 near LM 16.9 in Van Buren County due to slide. Monday, 06/18/18 through Saturday, 06/30/18, eastbound, 24 hrs., daily, There will be a lane closure in order to repair slide area by soil nailing. Temporary traffic signals are in place. Estimated project completion date is July 2018.

WARREN COUNTY SR-288 construction of a concrete bulb-tee beam bridge over Collins River (LM 4.97), including grading, drainage and paving:   The bridge is currently reduced to one 12-ft. lane to allow the contractor to construct the new bridge. While the bridge is down to one lane, traffic will be maintained and controlled by a temporary signal for the safety of the traveling public. Motorists should expect periodic delays and use caution in the work zone. RESTRICTIONS: Reduced to one 12-ft lane.

HAMILTON COUNTY I-75 North Exit 1 interchange reconfiguration project at mile marker 1:   Work on this project continues. There is now only one exit ramp that allows drivers to turn both east and west on Ringgold Road at a signalized intersection. Traffic has been shifted onto the newly constructed portion of Camp Jordan Pkwy., and the intersection (I-75 NB off-ramp and SR-8/Camp Jordan Pkwy.) is now controlled by a traffic signal. Estimated project completion date is June 2018.

HAMILTON COUNTY US-27 (I-124) widening from I-24/US-27 interchange to north of the Olgiati Bridge over the Tennessee River, including widening the Olgiati Bridge:   Work on this project continues. Motorists can expect nightly closures on MLK Blvd. beginning Monday 06/25/18 through Wednesday 06/27/18. These closures will be in place between the hours of 7 PM and 6 AM for the installation of new storm drainage pipes across MLK Blvd. During the work the following Ramps at the US-27/MLK Blvd. interchange will also be closed. Ramp from WB MLK to SB US-27, Ramp from EB MLK to NB US-27, and Ramp from SB US-27 to EB MLK Blvd. The MLK traffic can detour using either Broad or Chestnut Street to 6th Street to Gateway Blvd. Alternate access points to SB US-27 are Main Street or 4th Street, and the alternate access to NB US-27 will be at 4th Street. The 12th Street tie-in ramp to US-27 South has been temporarily closed. This closure will be in place through 09/18. Detours are posted. Motorists should exercise caution when traveling through the construction zone and pay close attention to the detour signage posted. The speed limit on US-27 in the construction zone remains 45 MPH. THP will assist with traffic control on the project as necessary.  Estimated project completion date is January 2020.

HAMILTON COUNTY Utility Work on SR-320 (E. BRAINERD RD.) westbound from LM 2.05 to LM 2.05:   WB on E. Brainerd road between N Concord Rd and Rowewood Dr. Retire gas service to 7025 E Brainerd Road. Signage, warning devices and Flaggers will be present. 6/23/2018 - 6/30/2018 9AM - 3PM.

 

HAMILTON COUNTY Utility Work on SR-321 (OOLTEWAH-RINGGOLD RD.) northbound from LM 3.93 to LM 3.93:   NB on Ooltewah Ringgold Road between Thornberry Drive and Bennie Lane. Retire Gas service to 3705 Ooltewah Ringgold Road. Reduce Speed, Flaggers and Flagger signage will be present. 6/23/2018 -6/30/2018 9 AM - 3 PM.

 

HAMILTON COUNTY Utility Work on SR-8 (TAFT HWY.) northbound from LM 22.66 to LM 22.86:   NB on Taft Highway between Stewart Road and Corral Road. Gas main for new subdivision. Flaggers and Flagger Signage will be present. 6/18/201/ - 8/17/2018 9 AM - 3 PM.

 

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-111 resurfacing from SR-29 to Jones Gap Road:   During this report period the contractor will have lane closures in place during resurfacing operations. No closures will occur from 5 AM to 8 AM in the southbound direction and from 4 PM to 6 PM in the northbound direction. Flaggers will be on hand to assist as needed. Estimated project completion date is July 2018.

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-320 (East Brainerd Road) grading, drainage, installation of signals, construction of seven retaining walls and paving from east of Graysville Road to east of Bel-Air Road:   During this report period, the contractor will have intermittent lane closures between 9AM-2PM. This work may affect either direction of East Brainerd Road or side streets from Graysville Road to Bel-Air Road. Flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed.  The contractor intends to shift traffic to final alignment from Morris Hill Road to just East of Banks Road on 6/27/18 and put the traffic signal at Banks into service. The result will be 2 travel lanes in either direction 1 center turn lane and bike lanes in either direction from Morris Hill Road to just East of Banks Road.  Estimated project completion date is June 2018.

HAMILTON COUNTY the tunnel cleaning of the McCallie Tunnel on US-11 (US-64, SR-2), the Stringers Ridge Tunnel on US-127 (SR-8), and the Bachman Tubes on US-41 (US-76, SR-8):   The nighttime cleaning operation of McCallie Tunnels, Stringers Ridge Tunnel, and Bachman Tubes occurs between 8PM-6AM. Tunnels will be closed during cleaning and detours will be marked accordingly, as each tunnel is cleaned. This work is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, 6/20 at the McCallie tunnels (SR-2) and proceed to the Stringer's Ridge tunnel (SR-8) and on Thursday, 6/21 the Bachman Tubes (SR-8) will be cleaned.  Estimated project completion date is June 2018.

MCMINN COUNTY SR-30, grading, drainage and paving on SR-30 from Jackson Street to east of Knight Road in Athens:   Work on this project continues. This project will upgrade SR-30 from a four-lane lane divided roadway to a five-lane urban-type roadway (two lanes in each direction with continuous center turn lane) and include curb, gutter and ADA-compliant sidewalks on both sides throughout the project area. The contractor has implemented the first phase traffic shift. The eastbound lanes are closed to traffic, and all traffic is using the existing westbound lanes, which have been marked and signed as a two-lane undivided highway from east of Jackson Street to east of Knight Road. Crossovers to businesses are reduced, but all businesses remain accessible.  Estimated project completion date is October 2019.

MCMINN COUNTY I-75 resurfacing from south of SR-30 (MM 48.69/LM 13.75) to north of County Road 267 (MM 55.44/LM 20.50):   The contractor will have 1 lane closed starting on Sunday thru Wednesday in the reporting period from 7 PM-6 AM as the contractor works to mill the roadway and pave. There will be troopers out on the project to help with traffic control. Also the speed limit has been reduced from 70 MPH to 60 MPH in the construction limits. Estimated project completion date is September 2018.

POLK COUNTY SR-30 cross drain replacement between LM 2.65 and LM 8.0:   Crews working on pipes 7,8, and 9 out of 16. Estimated project completion date is July 2018.

POLK COUNTY US-64 (SR-40) construction of a concrete bulb-tee beam bridge over Branch and TOHA Old Line railroad (LM 24.85), including grading, drainage and paving:   There will be intermittent lane closures as the contractor works to cut the embankment for the retaining wall. Pinecrest Road intersection has been closed. There are posted detour signs for residents to get to their homes on Pinecrest Road. This road will be closed during the duration of the construction of the Retaining Wall on US64. During this operation, there will be temporary lane closure. The work should be from 10 AM to 4:30 PM. Estimated project completion date is May 2019.

POLK COUNTY US-64 (SR-40) resurfacing from west of the Ocoee River Recreation Area, Caney Creek take out (LM 13.00) to LM 17.00.:   There is a possibility of intermittent lane closures on this report as the contractor tries to finish up project. The contractor will only lack snowplowable markers and shoulder stone. Starting after Memorial Day, the contractor will only have any lane closures on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Estimated project completion date is July 2018.

RHEA COUNTY SR-68 slide repair at LM 5:   TDOT personnel and contract crews continue work to repair a section of SR-68 near LM 5 in Rhea County that is currently closed due to a slide. REGION 2 TDOT Maintenance drainage work:   There will be possible short-term lane and shoulder closures at various locations in Region 2 in order to clean rock and debris from ditches on an as-needed basis. One lane will be maintained at all times.

REGION 2 TDOT Maintenance pothole repair and pavement patching:   There will be possible short-term emergency lane closures at various locations in Region 2 in order to repair potholes and patch pavement on an as-needed basis. Depending on location and severity these repairs may be done during the day or at night. In addition to performing the work, regional Operations crews will also provide traffic control.

REGION 2 on-call guardrail repair on various interstate and state routes:   The contractor may have short term shoulder and/or lane closures in order to perform guardrail repair. These closures will take place on the interstate nightly from 7PM to 6AM Sundays through Thursdays and daily on State Routes. At least one travel lane will remain open to traffic at all times on the Interstate, and flaggers will be present on State Routes during any work that is performed. REGION 2 Longitudinal joint stabilization on various state routes:   The contractor will have short term shoulder and/or lane closures in order to perform longitudinal joint stabilization on various state routes. REGION 2 the random on-call pavement marking and the retracing of pavement markings with spray thermoplastic on various Interstate and State Routes:   Work continues on this project. The contractor will be retracing existing striping in Putnam, Polk, Dekalb, and Overton Counties at night. This will include, at a minimum, temporary lane closures on the following route in Putnam County: I-40; on the following route in Polk County: SR-40 (US-64); on the following route in Dekalb County: SR-26 (US-70), and on the following route in Overton County: SR-52. Mobile lane closures will be present at night on these routes. Motorists should be alert to all construction equipment and personnel and obey all construction signage and messages.  Estimated project completion date is June 2019.
