Weekly East Tennessee Construction Report for March 22-28, 2018

ANDERSON COUNTY, SR 62 near Bethel Valley Road: On Wednesday, March 28, 2018, motorists should be alert for brief rolling roadblocks to occur between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following
morning as crews prepare for bridge repairs through this resurfacing project.  Motorists should be alert for slowed or stopped traffic and use extreme caution through this area.

BLOUNT COUNTY, SR 35 Hall Road near Associates Blvd.: Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures daily between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. as crews perform road work through this local interstate connector construction project.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, expect potential delays and use caution through this area.

BLOUNT COUNTY, US 129/SR 115 Alcoa Highway between Starlite Road and Tyson Blvd.: On Sunday. March 25, 2018 through Wednesday, March 28, 2018, motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures between the hours of 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. the following morning as crews perform test borings.  Motorists should be alert for workers present and use extreme caution through this area.

BLOUNT COUNTY, SR 162 Pellissippi Parkway between US 129 and SR 33: On Sunday, March 25, 2018 through Wednesday, March 28, 2018, motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures
between the hours of 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. the following morning as crews perform test borings.  Motorists should be alert for workers present and use extreme caution through this area.

CAMPBELL COUNTY, I-75 North and South between Mile Markers 135 and 142: Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following
morning through this project. Motorists should be alert for lane shifts, narrowed lanes, closed shoulders and use caution as crews construct truck climbing lanes through this area.  Motorists should be alert for slowed or stopped traffic, expect potential delays and use extreme caution through this area.  

CAMPBELL COUNTY, SR 297 near East Paul Lane: SR 297 is reduced to one lane controlled by a temporary traffic signal through this bridge repair project.  This reduction will remain in place around the clock.  Motorists should be alert for this new condition, be prepared to stop, and use extreme in this area.

COCKE COUNTY, I-40 East and West between Mile Markers 435 (SR 32) and 443 (Foothills Pkwy.): Motorists traveling on I-40 in Cocke County should be aware of bridge repairs that will affect traffic between
Newport and the North Carolina State Line. Bridge repairs will occur on the section of Interstate 40 between east of Exit 435 (SR 32) and Exit 443 (Foothills Parkway). The bridges to be repaired will include eastbound and westbound bridges over Golf Course Road (L.M. 7.17); Pigeon River (L.M. 9.76); S.R. 73 (L.M. 10.55); Hartford Road (L.M. 12.97) and Pigeon River (L.M. 13.10). I-40 East and West near Mile Marker 440 is reduced to one lane around the clock as bridge repairs are underway. A wide load detour is in place through this area. Wide loads should follow signed detour route.  This necessary work will take place daily, with continuous work at the given locations until work is complete.  Lane reductions will only be in place at the bridge site under repair and will not extend throughout the entire eight mile
project limits simultaneously.  Once repairs are completed at one bridge site, crews will move to the next site and perform continuous around the clock repairs at that location until complete. Once
bridge repairs are completed, the resurfacing will begin and motorists will encounter lane closures nightly on Sundays through Thursdays between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning. This project is estimated to be complete on or before August 31, 2018. Motorists should be alert for workers present, expect delays and use extreme caution through this area.

HAMBLEN COUNTY, US 25E/SR 32 Bridge over the Holston River: The US 25E/ SR 32 Bridge over the Holston River is reduced to one lane in each direction around the clock as crews perform bridge repairs.  Motorists should be alert for workers present and expect delays and use extreme caution through this area.  This project is estimated to be completed on or before June 30, 2018.

HAMBLEN COUNTY, SR 160 at Merchants Greene: Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures daily between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. near this intersection. Motorists should be alert for changing conditions and use extreme caution in this area.  

HAMBLEN COUNTY, SR 474 between SR 160 and Veteran’s Parkway: Motorists should be alert for possible lane closures and lane shifts through this construction project.  Motorists should be alert for new traffic patterns; workers present and use extreme caution through this area.  

JEFFERSON COUNTY, I-40 East and West between Mile Markers 415 and 421: Motorists should be alert for lane closures and lane shifts in place around the clock as crews perform bridge repairs through this area. Lane reductions will only be in place at the bridge site under repair and will not extend throughout the entire six mile project limits simultaneously.  Once repairs are completed at one bridge site, crews will move to the next site and perform continuous around the clock repairs at that location until complete. Once bridge repairs are completed, the resurfacing will begin and motorists will encounter lane closures nightly on Sundays through Thursdays between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning. JEFFERSON COUNTY, I-40 West at the I-81 North Interchange (Exit 421): Motorists should be alert for new lane designations in this area.  During this repair project, the right lane approaching the interchange will be designated for I-81 northbound traffic only.  The left lane will be for I-40 West traffic.  Motorists continuing on I-40 West must use the left lane.  Wide loads in excess of 14 feet in width traveling I-40 West through this area will need to follow the wide load detour of I-81 North to Exit 4 then follow I-81 South back to I-40 West.  No loads wider than 14 feet in width will be permitted across the bridge under repairs. Motorists should be alert for workers present, expect possible delays and use extreme caution through this area.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, I-40 East at the I-81 North Interchange (Exit 421): Motorists should be alert for temporary lane closures nightly in this area between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning as crews perform overhead bridge work.  Motorists should expect potential delays and use extreme caution through this interchange.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, SR 92 Bridge across French Broad River in Dandridge: Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures with flag persons directing traffic in this area at various times through this bridge construction project. Motorists should be alert for workers present, expect potential delays and use extreme caution

JEFFERSON COUNTY, SR 341 between I-81 and SR 66:  Motorists should be alert for workers present, changing traffic patterns and use extreme caution in this area.

KNOX COUNTY, I-40 East and West Bridge over Wesley Road near Mile Marker 382: Weather permitting, beginning at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018 through 6 a.m. on Monday, March 26, 2018, I-40 East and West will be reduced to two lanes near Mile Markers 380 and 381 (I-40 Bridges over Montvue Road and Buckingham Drive) as crews perform bridge repairs in this area. Crews will be working around the clock to complete the next phase of these scheduled repairs.  Motorists should expect potential long delays, adjust travel times, and seek alternate routes. Motorists should be alert as workers will be present and there will likely be slowed or stopped conditions.  Motorists should use extreme caution through this area.

KNOX COUNTY, I-40 West near I-275 (MM 387): Motorists should be alert for brief rolling roadblocks and possible lane closures nightly Sundays through Thursday between the hours 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning through this overhead sign replacement project. Motorists should be alert for closed shoulders through this project.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, slowed traffic, and use extreme caution through this area.

KNOX COUNTY, I-40 West Ramp to Watt Road (Exit 369): On Friday, March 23, 2018 through Monday, March 26, 2018, motorists should be alert for possible lane closures and lane shifts on this exit ramp as crews perform concrete repairs.  Motorists should be alert for workers present and use extreme caution in this area.  

KNOX COUNTY, I-75 South Ramp to Callahan Drive (Exit 110): Motorists should be alert for lane closures and lane shifts on this exit ramp as crews begin this ramp widening and signalization project.  Motorists should be alert for workers present and use extreme caution in this area.

KNOX COUNTY, I-640 West between Mile Markers 7.5 and 5: Motorists should be alert for lane shifts, closed shoulders, reduced speeds and use extreme caution through this construction project.

KNOX COUNTY, US 129/SR 115 Alcoa Highway between Maloney Road and Woodson Drive: Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning as
crews perform work through this project. Motorists should be alert for lane shifts on Alcoa Highway southbound near Woodson Drive. The left turn lane from southbound Alcoa Highway onto Woodson Drive is closed. Motorists on southbound Alcoa Highway wishing to access Woodson Drive will be detoured to SR 168 Governor John Sevier Highway to SR 33 Maryville Pike back to Woodson Drive.  This closure will remain in effect through the Spring of 2018.  During this time, there will be no left turns permitted onto southbound Alcoa Highway from Woodson Drive. Motorists on Woodson Drive wishing to access southbound Alcoa Highway should follow detour route. Motorists should be alert for workers present, expect potential delays and use caution through this area. Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures and brief rolling roadblocks at various times through this construction project.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, reduce speed and use extreme caution through this area. KNOX COUNTY, SR 1/US 11 Kingston Pike between Old Stage Road and Virtue Road: Motorists should be alert for possible lane closures nightly between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following
morning on Sundays through Thursdays as crews perform work through this construction project.  Motorists should be alert for workers present and use caution through this area.

KNOX COUNTY, SR 62 (Oak Ridge Hwy. /Western Ave.) between Schaad Road and I-640: Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures throughout this project as crews continue  construction on the pedestrian bridge.  Motorists traveling in this area should be alert for workers and equipment present and be alert for changing traffic conditions and use caution through this area. MONROE COUNTY, US 11/SR 2 Bridge over Sweetwater Creek at Log Mile 5: US 11 (SR 2) is reduced to one lane around the clock controlled by a temporary traffic signal as crews perform bridge repairs in this area.  Motorists should be alert for new conditions, be prepared to stop, expect delays and use extreme caution through this area.  This project is estimated to be completed on or before October 31, 2018.  

MORGAN COUNTY, SR 29 between Old Highway 27 and Cumberland Mountain Circle Road: SR 29 is reduced to one lane around the clock and controlled by a temporary traffic signal through this bridge repair project.  Motorists should be alert for this new traffic pattern, expect potential delays and adjust travel times accordingly.  This project is estimated to be complete by April 2018.

MORGAN/ROANE COUNTY, US27/SR29 between Whetstone Road and SR 61:  Motorists should be alert for new traffic patterns, lane shifts, closed shoulders and possible temporary lane closures with flagging personnel present at various times throughout this construction project. Motorists should be alert for reduced speeds and use extreme caution in this area.

SEVIER COUNTY, SR 71 between US 411 and Macon Lane: Motorists should be alert for possible lane closures daily between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. through this construction project.  Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment present, expect potential delays, and use extreme caution through this area.

SULLIVAN COUNTY, I-26 East near Mile Marker 8.7: On Tuesday, March 27, 2018, motorists should be alert for possible lane closures between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning as crews perform guardrail repairs.  Motorists should be alert for workers present and use caution through this area.

SULLIVAN COUNTY, I-81 North between Mile Markers 59 and 63: Motorists should be alert for possible lane closures nightly between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning as crews perform work through this truck climbing lane construction project.  Motorists should be alert for lane shifts, reduced speed limits, expect potential delays and use extreme caution in this area.

UNICOI COUNTY, I-26 East near Mile Marker 36.3: On Wednesday, March 28, 2018, motorists should be alert for possible lane closures between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning as crews perform guardrail repairs.  Motorists should be alert for workers present and use caution through this area.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, I-26 West near Mile Marker 22.2: On Monday, March 26, 2018, motorists should be alert for possible lane closures between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning as crews perform guardrail repairs.  Motorists should be alert for workers present and use caution through this area.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, I-26 East at SR 67 (Exit 24): Motorists should be alert for construction activity, lane shifts, possible lane closures and changing conditions around the exit and entrance ramps and use extreme caution through this construction project.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, SR 34 between Sunset Drive and Smith Lane: Motorists should be alert for possible daily lane closures between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. as crews perform work through this turn lane construction project.  Motorists should be alert for workers present and use caution through this area.  

WASHINGTON COUNTY, SR 354 between Old Towne Drive to US 11E/SR 34: Motorists should be alert for traffic shifts through this construction project.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, construction equipment and use extreme caution through this area.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, US 321/SR 34 Bridge over Limestone Creek neat Log Mile 1.75: US 321/SR 34 is reduced to one lane in each direction through this bridge replacement project.  The southbound traffic has been shifted onto the northbound side.  These lane closures and lane shifts will remain in place around the clock during construction.  Motorists should be alert for changed conditions, lane shifts, reduced speeds and use extreme caution through this area.
