TDOT and Deputy Governor Celebrate Completion of State Route 10 Reconstruction

LAFAYETTE, Tenn. – Deputy Governor Jim Henry and TDOT Commissioner John Schroer joined state and local officials in Lafayette today to celebrate the completion of the State Route 10 reconstruction project from south of Goose Creek to State Route 52 in Lafayette.

The 1.8-mile reconstruction project included the addition of a truck climbing lane, wider shoulders, and turn lanes to improve safety along the previously narrow corridor. Retaining walls and drainage improvements were also part of the $15.6 million project, which began construction in June of 2014.

“This project is, most importantly, about safety,” Henry said. “State Route 10 is a vital north-south corridor for this area. The completion of this project, along with more safety projects called for in the IMPROVE Act, will allow for much needed improvements on the roadway for both safety and efficiency.”

Additional IMPROVE Act safety projects are slated for approximately 10 miles of SR 10, from State Route 52 in Macon County, to Blount Creek Road in Trousdale County. For more information on projects funded through the IMPROVE Act, please visit https://www.tdot.tn.gov/projectneeds/spot#/.
