TCCY Advocacy Overview
TCCY provides leadership for advocacy activities on behalf of children and families.
TCCY is an integral part of state policy making on child and family issues and participates on national, state, regional, and local committees, task forces, and boards for information gathering, sharing, and networking. Policy statements are prepared and distributed on issues affecting families and children.
TCCY sponsors Children's Advocacy Day annually and also makes policy recommendations for administrative and legislative action.
TCCY's periodic newsletter, The Advocate, provides information on timely children's issues. The Advocate is distributed to children's advocates, service providers, juvenile court judges and staff, legislators, policy makers, and regional council members.
TCCY publishes the Tennessee Compilation of Selected Laws on Children, Youth and Families and disseminates it to juvenile courts, state government staff, and other children's services professionals. TCCY also prepares reports and plans for the governor, the Tennessee General Assembly, and the federal Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.
TCCY publishes information about the ongoing legislative session and distributes a summary of legislative activities related to children at the end of each session.
Information listing all unannotated Tennessee Laws is also available on the Lexis Publishing site.
Information on how to advocate for children is available.
TCCY staff make presentations at TCCY events, legislative committees and other groups.
