Amendment 4, approved by the voters on November 4, 2014, will allow 501(c)(19) tax exempt organizations to hold an annual gaming event. Before these organizations can hold such events, legislation must be enacted by the Tennessee General Assembly to incorporate the changes brought by Amendment 4.

Update (April 15, 2015): The 3 day period for applications has opened. Eligible 501(c)(19) organizations can apply between April 15, 2015 until close of business on April 17, 2015, to hold a gaming event for the upcoming period of July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2016. During those 3 days, the Division will be able to accept applications. Please note, going forward the Tennessee Nonprofit Gaming Law will allow eligible 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(19) organizations to hold an annual “game of chance” fundraising event. In order to conduct such an event, an organization must file the following with the division:

  • An application all required attachments between July 1 and January 31 each year for the events to be held the following July 1 - June 30.
  • A non-refundable fee.

The division will review the application and transmit a list of all qualifying applicants to the General Assembly for its authorization.
