Customer Kiosk (iPad) Services

(Credit or Debit Card required to utilize iPad)

Which driver services transactions are eligible on the Customer Kiosk (iPad)?

The following transactions can be completed on the Customer Kiosk (iPad):

1.      Renew a Driver License or Photo Identification (ID)

2.      Request a Duplicate or Replace a Driver License or Photo Identification (ID)

3.      Request an Address Change

4.      Request a Name Change

5.      Advance a Graduated Driver License (GDL)

6.      Pay Reinstatement Fees

7.      Request a Real ID*

*Note: The Real ID Transaction can be completed with services 1-5

Commercial Driver License (CDL), Temporary Licenses/Photo Identification (X-Series) or, Non-Expiring Licenses (Permanent ID, Code 30) transactions can not be processed on the Customer Kiosk (iPad).    

 

Renewing Your Driver License or Photo Identification (ID): 

In order to renew your Driver License or Photo Identification, you will need either your driver license number, photo identification number, or social security number.  After logging in, select the renewal option and follow the prompts on the screen to renew your license or photo ID.

Important Note: All transactions conducted on the Customer Kiosk (iPad), require a new photo. You must see a Driver License Examiner to complete your transaction.

 

Applying for a Duplicate (Replacement) License or Photo Identification (ID)

To replace your license or photo identification, you will need either your driver license number, identification number, or social security number. If the expiration date is less than 1 year, then you have the option to renew. After logging in, you must select a duplicate transaction or the renewal option, if eligible.  Follow the iPad on-screen prompts to update your address.

Important Note: All transactions conducted on the Customer Kiosk (iPad), require a new photo. You must see a Driver License Examiner to complete your transaction. 

 

Request an Address Change:

To process an address change on your license or photo identification, you will need either your driver license number, identification number, or social security number. If the expiration date is less than 1 year, then you have the option to renew. After logging in, you must select a duplicate transaction or the renewal (if eligible) option.  Follow the iPad on-screen prompts to update your address.

Request a Name Change:

To request a name change on the Customer Kiosk (iPad), you will need either your driver license number, identification number, or social security number.  If the expiration date is less than 1 year, then you have the option to renew. After logging in you must select the duplicate or renewal (if eligible) option.  Follow the iPad on-screen prompts.

To complete the transaction, you must provide supporting documentation and the Examiner will complete the name change. Acceptable documentation consists of an original or certified marriage certificate, divorce decree, or court order. Faxes or photocopies cannot be accepted.

Important Note: All transactions related to a name change conducted on the Customer Kiosk (iPad), require a new photo. You must see a Driver License Examiner to complete your transaction.

 

Advance to a Graduated Driver License (GDL)

To advance to a Graduated Driver License on the Customer Kiosk (iPad), you will need either your driver license number, identification number, or social security number.  Follow the iPad on-screen prompts. If you are under age 18, select “Upgrade” to go from Intermediate Restricted (IR) to Intermediate Unrestricted (IU), if you have held your current credential for more than one (1) year without any violations. If you are over age 18, select “Graduate to Class D.”

Important Note: All transactions conducted on the Customer Kiosk (iPad), require a new photo. You must see a Driver License Examiner to complete your transaction.

 

Pay Reinstatement Fees

If you are on a Reinstatement Payment Plan with the Department of Safety and Homeland Security, you must visit a Reinstatement Center. Any payments processed on the Customer Kiosk (iPad) will not be applied to the Reinstatement Payment Plan.

To pay Reinstatement Fees on the Customer Kiosk (iPad), you will need to enter either your driver license number, identification number, or social security number.  When prompted, select “Pay Reinstatement Fee.”  Follow the iPad on-screen prompts.

After completing reinstatement requirements and paying all applicable fees, reissuance of a new license is required. Additional documentation may be required for reissuance. You must see a Driver License Examiner to complete your transaction.

 

Request a REAL ID

To obtain a REAL ID via Customer Kiosk (iPad) while processing any of the transactions outlined above, 1 through 5 (renewal, duplicate, address change, name change, or GDL), additional documentation will be required.

Click the documentation link for additional information related to REAL ID document requirements.  Remember all documents must be originals or certified. Faxes or photocopies cannot be accepted.

To exchange your current TN license, photo identification, or permit for a REAL ID, you will need your driver license number, identification number, and social security number. If the expiration date is less than 1 year, then you have the option to renew.  After logging in, choose your service option. Follow the iPad on-screen prompts.
