Hazard Mitigation and Community Education Grants

Hazard Mitigation and Community Education Grants are provided by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture's (TDA) Division of Forestry (TDF) to communities, groups, and organizations to make their homes safer from wildlife. These communities have a high risk or potential for loss from wildland fires. The grants fund community outreach, education, emergency planning, and hazard mitigation activities such as fuel reduction through thinning and prescribed burning. Communities who have developed a Community Wildfire Prevention Plan (CWPP) are eligible for funding through this grant program. Funding for these grants is provided through the USDA Forest Service's State Fire Assistance Program.
In FY 2022, 17 communities received a total of $120,000 in Hazard Mitigation and Community Education Grants.
