Dr. Elizabeth Norton is the director of reading coaching for the Tennessee Department of Education. She earned her PhD in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Tennessee in 2015. She also holds a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Tennessee Technological University. In addition to these degrees, Dr. Norton also has a reading specialist endorsement. Prior to serving in her role as a leader of the Read to be Ready Coaching Network, Dr. Norton served the Knox County Schools as an executive master teacher, master teacher, literacy coach, and reading interventionist. She has also supported the literacy community as a former president and board member of the Smoky Mountain Reading Council.
