Photography in Museum Exhibits

• Non-flash photography for personal or educational use is permitted in all exhibit areas in the Tennessee State Museum (TSM). Certain traveling exhibitions and exhibit areas may have photographic restrictions. These exceptions will be posted in those areas.
• Use of tripods must receive prior museum approval. Contact the media relations office at
• Photography by the news media is always allowed, but should be scheduled through the media relations office.
• Photographs of the museum for commercial use should be scheduled through the media relations office. There may be a charge for such usage.

Photographic Policies on Using Images from the Museum's Collection

TSM collects, preserves, organizes, and disseminates images documenting, its collection, exhibitions, events, the rich history of Tennessee and its people. Many of these images are available to be licensed for educational, editorial, and commercial usage.
