- Narrowing the Gap
Narrowing the Gap is a report published by the Tennessee Department of Health, Division of Assessment and Planning through the Office of Minority Health on the health status of minorities in Tennessee. The report provides available information specific to racial and gender groups in the state.
It also includes a data comparison of minorities in areas of chronic diseases based on the Special Population Objectives of the Healthy People 2000 report of the US Department of Health and Human Services.
- Internship Opportunities
The Division of Minority Health and Disparity Elimination provides undergraduate and graduate students field study opportunities in public health issues in the following program areas: health care and issue advocacy, community development, and social work for public services. Practicum and internship requirements can be met through task oriented work and resource development in working with community-based organizations, and health initiatives at the local, statewide or federal level. Student participants have been enrollees at the University of Tennessee (Knoxville and Nashville), Tennessee State University (Nashville), Meharry Medical College (Nashville) and University of Kentucky (Louisville).
