Tank School consists of live classroom training geared toward tank owners and tank operators and is designed to help increase their understanding of compliance with the underground storage tank rules and how they can be prepared for future compliance inspections. Classes are typically small sized, and are taught by a team of our inspectors. The class sessions employ lots of photographs, some video, and samples of piping material, and limited amounts of underground storage tank hardware such as automatic line leak detectors. Student participation and questions are encouraged. Class evaluations received reflect overwhelmingly positive comments on the instructors and the course content. Instructors report that when comparing pre- and post- instruction test scores, they are usually able to measure a 20 - 25 point increase in class average scores.
Classes begin at 8:30 A.M. and last until approximately 4:00 pm. There is no cost to attend these classes and class materials are provided free of charge. Everyone who attends and completes the class session will receive an attractive Certificate of Attendance, and the current year Tank Owner's Compliance Toolbox CD. Anyone who scores a 70 or higher on the class final exam will be awarded a Certificate of Operator Training which is recognized by the state for having completed the requirements for a Class A and Class B Operator.
Please be advised that the Division will continue to conduct tank school training virtually.
