Tennessee Air Quality Monitoring & Forecasting

Air Quality Forecasts and Alerts

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation is issuing the Code Orange Air Quality Alert for
ozone for the following areas, valid for July 13th, 2018:

•        Knoxville MSA

•        Great Smoky Mountains National Park

High pressure and stagnant air conditions have entered into Eastern Tennessee. Many areas in Tennessee have started reporting elevated levels of ozone today. Clouds and humidity will begin to filter in over the weekend and should be enough to keep levels below alert levels. Tomorrow, plan for ozone to reach levels in the lower end of the Unhealthy for
Sensitive Groups range (101-150).  Although general public is not likely to be affected at this AQI range, people with lung disease, older adults and children are at a greater risk from exposure to ozone, whereas persons with heart and lung disease, older adults and children are at greater risk from the presence of particles in the air.
