Draft List

To facilitate public review and comments on the draft 2020 List of Impaired and Threatened Waters in Tennessee, a public hearing has been scheduled. The hearing will be simultaneously video-conferenced at all TDEC field offices, so the public may also attend remotely in various parts of the state.

The list, developed by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, compiles waterbody segments that violate one or more water quality criteria, or are documented as threatened by pollutants.

Comments  will be accepted through February 14, 2020. (

Please see the public notice document for additional information regarding times, locations and accommodations.

Note to Reviewers of the Draft 2020 List of Impaired and Threatened Waters in Tennessee:

The Department of Environment and Conservation made the draft 2020 List of Impaired Waters available for public review on November 15, 2019. On November 18, it was discovered that our retrieval from EPA’s ATTAINS database failed to capture two waterbodies that should have been included: Segment TN03150101021_0700 in the Conasauga River watershed and Segment TN05130203003_2000 in the Stones River Watershed. The Workbook has been revised to include these segments.

Reviewers should be aware that this revision does not represent a change in water quality assessment. The two waterbodies in question were already assessed as appropriate for Listing in the ATTAINS database, which is the official federal repository of water quality assessment information. TDEC regrets any inconvenience this revision might have caused.

Questions about the List should be directed to .
