The TNCompass online portal allows educators to submit an application electronically in minutes. TNCompass also allows both educators and their university to apply for initial licenses, advancement, renewal, additional degree/endorsements, name changes as well as demographic information changes.
The educator can also review qualifications related to their teaching credentials, education, exams, and previous education employment. Another function of this application allows educators to upload documents that may be required for processing educator credentials.
All licensure applications are available for download on this web site. Be sure to submit the most current forms to ensure meeting current requirements. Check Licensure Forms for specific applications needed.
In an effort to deliver improved customer service and reduced costs, the Office of Educator Licensing stopped printing paper licenses on July 1, 2012. This change does not affect how an educator applies for licensing or how LEAs verify licenses.
Educators should be sure to provide a current email address either on the application submitted and update their personal information on the Educator Licensure Information site. While educators no longer receive a paper copy of the license, they will receive email notification and instructions on how to retrieve license information when the transaction is completed. In addition, educators who wish to obtain a printer-friendly version of a license may use the public search option of the Educator Licensure Information page.
