Pursuant to T.C.A. § 49-6-1026, Tennessee school districts are authorized to offer an elective course on a nonsectarian, nonreligious, academic study of the Bible that aligns with the Tennessee Bible Standards. The department is required to make a list available of each LEA that has developed a Bible course curriculum approved by the department and the Bible course curricula developed by LEAs and approved by the department. Since the department does not approve curricula for use in LEAs, a list of LEAs that offer a course aligned to the Tennessee Bible Standards and any approved special courses are provided for reference.
The following LEAs have indicated their intent to offer a course aligned to the Tennessee Bible Standards:
· Arlington Community Schools
· Bledsoe County Schools
· Marion County Schools
· Sevier County Schools
· Williamson County Schools
The following LEAs have applied for and received approval of special courses on related topics:
· Hamilton County Schools (Survey of Bible Literature)
