INFORMATION ABOUT THE ONGOING NOVEL CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK

IEA Training & Information Sessions

The department will be hosting a series of in-person trainings and a live webinar for school district staff on the IEA Program. The trainings are an optional opportunity available to all districts and will be designed to provide information to educators on the implementation of the IEA Program, including:

  • an overview of what the IEA Program is, which students are eligible, how students enroll in the program, and what types of expenses IEA funds can be used for;
  • district responsibilities, including how districts should report students enrolled in the IEA Program in EIS;
  • details about how IEA funding will be calculated, distributed, and monitored; and
  • updates/changes for the next school year.

Districts have flexibility in choosing which district- and school-level staff attend the training. Examples of staff positions that might benefit from the training include: special education supervisors, and attendance supervisors.

If you have questions, please contact IEA.Questions@tn.gov.

The department will be providing a series of information sessions for parents on the IEA Program.  Parent information sessions are designed to help parents who are interested in enrolling their student in the IEA Program learn more about what the IEA Program is, including student eligibility, amount of funding, approved expenses, and parent responsibilities. Parents will also learn how to complete the application process to enroll their child in the IEA Program. These sessions are not for parents of students already enrolled in the IEA Program.

Each year the department will provide in–person trainings and a live webinar training for IEA account holders. These trainings are for parents of students who are enrolled in the IEA Program. Account holder trainings are designed to help account holders learn more about how to complete their responsibilities for the IEA Program, including submitting expense reports and receipts to the department, correctly filling out IEA forms (e.g., expense pre–approvals, assessment verification, and application renewal), and much more. The department strongly encourages all account holders and approved applicants to attend the training.

The instructions for how to register for the trainings, including the dates, times, and locations will be emailed to account holders and approved applicants. The updated training materials and a recording of the live webinar will be posted on this webpage.
