School Security Assessment
To enhance current school safety efforts, the Governor’s School Safety Working Group has recommended a review and assessment of all school facilities to identify vulnerabilities. Each Tennessee public school will be required to conduct a school security assessment using the assessment tool developed by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security (TDSHS). Assessments are to be completed before students for the 2018-19 school year. All schools will be required to complete and submit the assessment, along with emergency operations plans (EOPs) and school drill logs, before the district can apply for the one time School Safety and Security Grant and recurring Safe Schools Grant funding.
