Mission Statement

Support the DIDD Mission and Vision by ensuring that policies prescribe innovative, person-centered best practices that drive the delivery of services and supports for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Division of Policy and Innovation

The Office of Policy and Innovation strives to increase the quality of life of persons supported by balancing what is important to and for them. The Office of Policy and Innovation works diligently to ensure independence, good health and safety of persons supported through writing, revising, and training policies, improving technology, and identifying Best Practices for the Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. There are three divisions within the Office of Policy and Innovation. These include the following: Policy; Innovation; and Developmental Disabilities Services.

Policy

To develop policies, procedures and other guiding documents necessary for day-to-day operation of the Department and contracted providers that are person-centered and focus on improving the quality of life for all Tennesseans with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Innovation

To research and introduce a new, original, or process that enhances services or supports to people with intellectual or developmental disability which will increase independence, improve health, and will improve quality of options of support.

Developmental Disability Services

Lead the statewide system in the development and implementation of programs for Tennesseans with developmental disabilities (DD), including collaboration with TennCare, stakeholders, and providers in developing programs.
