Online Foster Parent Training

Foster parents can receive training credit by completing any of the courses listed in the tables below. Parents who have Edison accounts are encouraged to complete trainnig in Edison to better assist parents and their workers to more easily track training completion. Use the course code or title listed to search for training in Edison.

If you do not have an Edison account or encounter difficulty, you may also view the courses by clicking the links below. View the videos and other material and submit the form for each class to receive credit.  Submit a separate form for each person to receive a certificate for each training.

The trainings listed below are required for some or all foster parents; read the description below each title for additional information.

The trainings listed below fulfill trauma-informed and/or therapeutic training requirements. All foster parents must complete one trauma-informed training during the first year of fostering. Provider parents with therapuetic agencies must complete 15 hours of therapeutic training  annually in addition to the required 15 hours of annual training.

The TBRI® Podcast is produced by the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development and features conversations about Trust-Based Relational Intervention®, an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children.

The series explores the elements of trauma-informed care and chats with experts in the field about implementing TBRI® across different communities of care and practice.

The TBRI® Podcast is currently available on the following platforms: Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Radio Public, Breaker, Anchor, and Pocket Casts.

All foster parents will be eligible to receive one hour of training credit for each episode; these episodes also fulfill trauma-informed and therapeutic training credit requirements. Parents must complete the elective training form (CS-1000) to receive credit.
