Foster Parent Advocates

Every Foster Parent has the right to a Foster Parent Advocate for representation and support.

Foster Parent Advocates are especially trained to assist DCS and Private Provider Foster Parents.

Advocates, who have at least two years’ experience as a foster parent, do the following:

  • Educate foster parents on DCS policies and procedures
  • Conduct trainings on the Foster Parent Bill of Rights
  • Represent Foster Parents in SIU, CFTM, court proceedings and other relevant forums
  •  Act as a communication bridge between Family Service Workers and Foster Parents

Foster Parents can request an advocate by contacting the regional Foster Parent Support staff person or Tennessee Community Service Agency Program Director Jennifer McGhee, (865) 314-9422 or Jennifer.McGhee@tncsa.com
