Tuesday, July 02, 2019 | 05:15pm

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Department of Correction is now accepting applications for the Fall session of our Middle Tennessee Citizens Correctional Academy.  The academy is a five-week program designed to give Tennesseans an in-depth look at the state’s largest law enforcement agency.  Classes will be held September 10th through October 3rd, 2019 at various TDOC locations.

Citizens’ Academy first started in 2014 in the Middle Tennessee area.  Since implementation seven classes of citizens have experienced an in-depth look at the Department of Correction’s operations and its role in advancing public safety.  Participants will have the opportunity to learn about TDOC functions and programming from executive leadership, ask questions, tour two facilities and visit a field office in order to gain a better understanding of the agency and the work of its more than 6, 000 dedicated employees.

If you would like to attend, applications for the Citizens’ Academy are available on the departmental website or you may request an application by emailing TDOC.Communications@tn.gov.  Applications will be accepted until Friday, August 16, 2019.
