Hardeman County Correctional Facility Update

WHITEVILLE – On Sunday, September 2, 2018 a series of inmate fights took place at Hardeman County Correctional Facility (HCCF).  This was not one large scale fight but a series of four isolated incidents that took place in different locations within the facility.  Four inmates were injured during the incidents.  Of those four injured, three inmates received outside medical treatment.  Two were released from the hospital and returned to the facility Sunday night.  One inmate remains hospitalized in stable condition.  No staff members were injured during these altercations.

The Tennessee Department of Correction Office of Investigation and Compliance and the Whiteville Police Department are investigating the incidents.  While this investigation is still ongoing, it is believed that the fights were gang related.  The facility remains on lockdown at this time.
