Monday, July 31, 2017 | 10:58am

MEMPHIS - The Tennessee Department of Correction is now accepting applications for our West Tennessee Citizens’ Academy.  The academy is a three-day program designed to give West Tennesseans an in-depth look at the state’s largest law enforcement agency.  Classes will be held September 14-16, 2017 at various TDOC locations.

Citizens’ Academy has been a successful program that was started in 2014 in the Middle Tennessee area.  Since implementation TDOC has had 6 classes designed to give citizens an in-depth look at the Department of Correction’s operations and its role in advancing public safety.  Participants will have the opportunity to learn about TDOC functions and programming from executive leadership, ask questions, tour two facilities and visit a field office in order to gain a better understanding of the agency and the work of its more than 6,000 dedicated employees.

If you would like to attend, applications for the Citizens’ Academy are available on the departmental website at www.tn.gov/correction or you may request an application by emailing TDOC.Communications@tn.gov.
