WARTBURG – Staff from the Morgan County Correctional Complex (MCCX) delivered over 200 gifts to the Morgan County Head Start and an additional 400+ to the Morgan County School Board as part of the school board’s Angel Tree program.  MCCX has partnered with the Morgan County school system for over 10 years, taking hundreds of ‘angels’ each year.  This year, MCCX took 332 children from the Angel Tree.  Toy collections and fundraisers were held all year and MCCX staff was able to collect enough gifts to provide each child on their Angel Tree list with seven to eight presents each.

The gifts delivered to the Morgan County School Board will be sent to children at the Petros-Joyner Elementary and Wartburg-Central Elementary.  "Some of these children may not receive any gifts otherwise,” says Stacie Bourff, Early Head Start Coordinator for Morgan County Head Start.  "We’d like to thank the Morgan County Correctional Complex and their staff for all they’ve done and continue to do for our children here in Morgan County,” Lorrie Armes, Morgan County Schools Federal Outreach Assistant adds.

“Morgan County Correctional Complex is committed to being a good community partner and we strive to give back to the communities we serve,” says MCCX Warden Shawn Phillips.
