The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development has launched an SMS (Short Message Service, or texting) conversations program to help individuals to:

  • Navigate the unemployment process
  • Receive timely updates and reminders for their claim
  • Learn about re-employment resources to aid claimants in finding a job

Individuals will only be messaged through a safe, secure short code and will never be asked for personal identifiable information.

Can anyone sign up for SMS text conversations? Why do others have this service and I don’t receive SMS text conversations?

Anyone can enroll for the TDLWD service; however, there is specific claim criteria required to be eligible for the SMS text conversations. We are constantly broadening this service to individuals. Based on your account settings and/or claim type, you may not receive SMS text conversations.

How can I stop messages?

To stop messages, reply “STOP”. You will be put on the do-not-contact list if you opt-out.

Can I re-start messages if I previously said “STOP”?

Yes, to receive messages again, you must reply “START”.

Is this a scam?
