How to Access Slack (Communications Hub)

Ask questions, receive conference announcements & reminders, and interact with others.

How to get #help in Slack

To access the #help channel, we need to log into Slack for the first time.

  1. Click this invitation link , enter your email address, and click "Continue".
  2. Go to your email, open the email from Slack and click "Confirm Email"
    If you didn't receive an email, check your spam folder, or maybe retype your email address in the invitation link, in case of typos.
  3. Clicking the button will open your web browser and ask you to enter your Full Name and create a password for this specific Slack workspace. Then, click "Create Account".
  4. When Slack loads, skip the tutorial for now, instead, click the #help channel in the middle, left-hand side of the screen, under the "Channels" section.
  5. Type in your question at the bottom of the screen, then press "enter" to send the message.
    Remember, comments here are public so that other attendees with a similar question can learn from questions that have already been asked.
  6. Slack will notify you when someone responds to your question.
    It's recommended that you turn notifications on in Slack. You can change this at anytime. Not receiving notifications?

Comment on someone else's message

The best way to comment on someone's message is to "reply to thread".  Threads let you discuss topics in detail without adding clutter to a conversation’s main view, and help make discussions easier to keep track of.

Ask questions while watching a session


Each session has its own slack channel dedicated to discussion comments and questions for that specific session. So go ahead and ask your question! The presenters will be watching these channels throughout the conference.

Remember, your comments are considered "public" when posting in that session's channel. This is helpful for others in case someone else who might have the same question.


Use an emoji reactions on someone else's message

Do you agree with someone else's message? Add an applause or thumbs up emoji to their message.

Hover over a message and click "Add reaction icon"

Download the app

Want to be notified when a speaker answers your question? or if someone replies to your comment? Download the app to your device and sign in with the same email that you used during registration.

When prompted for the "workspace URL", type in: 2020tnwcconference.slack.com


Tweak your notification settings

If you are in several conversations, you may start to get lots of notifications. You can set "do no disturb" hours to prevent messages from pinging you throughout the night.
