Main
Turney Center Industrial Complex (TCIX) is a time-building prison with emphasis on industry. The security designation is close and the majority of beds are medium security.
Academic programs available at the prison include adult basic education and Nashville State Community College courses. Vocational programs include cosmetology, cabinet making and mill work, industrial maintenance, landscaping, vocational office education, Pro-Social Life Skills and Career Management for Success. TRICOR industry programs include wood and metal specialties. Offenders are also involved in support jobs at the prison. TCIX also has a dog training program.
Annex
The Turney Center Industrial Complex Annex is a fast track facility that offers offenders a range of rehabilitative programs to help them succeed upon their release. The prison has a custody designation of minimum custody.
The majority of the population at this site are assigned to community services as part of their programming needs. The prisons' community service work crews proudly provide thousands of hours of labor to five counties, including state and local government, as well as churches, cemeteries and other non-profit organizations in southern middle Tennessee.
The Special Alternative Incarceration Unit (SAIU) or boot camp program is housed at annex. The prison also houses the Probation Technical Violators Diversion Program Unit and the Parole Technical Violators Unit. All three are highly disciplined and structured programs combining community service work, life skills and drug treatment.
The annex also offers the Therapeutic Community (TCOM) program. Academic programs available include High School Equivalency (HSE) (formerly GED) and adult basic education.
