Nurse Practitioner Investigator – Civil Medicaid Fraud
The Tennessee Attorney General and Reporter represents all State executives, officials, departments, boards, agencies, and commissions in matters arising from their public duties. Such representation includes participation in litigation, transactional matters, and giving day-to-day legal advice to a wide variety of State entities. The Attorney General's Office employs approximately 200 attorneys organized into 16 legal divisions within 5 sections.
About the General Litigation Division:
The General Litigation Division is part of the State Services and Litigation Section of the Attorney General’s Office. The Division’s Civil Medicaid Fraud (CMF) unit investigates and prosecutes civil cases of Medicaid fraud against healthcare providers and related parties. These efforts serve to deter the submission of false claims to TennCare, Tennessee’s Medicaid program, and restore ill-gotten gains to the State. Most of CMF’s cases result from qui tam actions brought pursuant to the Tennessee Medicaid False Claims Act, as well as referrals from TennCare’s Office of Program Integrity. CMF works on a regular basis with TennCare, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the Tennessee Department of Health, U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Attorney’s Offices, and other agencies.
