Janice Wade-Whitehead, Executive Committee

Chartered Statewide Organization Who Advocates Exclusively For Older Persons (Alzheimer's Tennessee)

Janice Wade-Whitehead is the CEO and President of Alzheimer’s Tennessee, having been with the organization since 1991. She has been awarded the “Public Citizen of the Year Award” by both the local and statewide divisions of the National Association of Social Workers and in 2007 was appointed by Governor Phil Bredesen to the Tennessee Alzheimer’s Disease Task Force, serving as an officer of the taskforce and helping to create the first state plan to address Alzheimer’s Disease.

Janice is a leader in state and federal advocacy efforts representing the Alzheimer’s community. She has served on various committees with a national scope regarding public policy and educational initiatives. She is a founding member of the national network, “Women Against Alzheimer’s,” associated with US Against Alzheimer’s, and is also a member of Leaders Engaged on Alzheimer’s Disease (LEAD Coalition).

The International European Memory Training Academy has certified Janice as a Memory Trainer, and she has likewise been certified as a coach under Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care. She serves on the QulLTSS committee to address quality long-term services and support for the senior population of Tennessee. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Federation for the Aging.

In her personal life, Janice’s mother had Alzheimer’s disease, and Janice helped to manage her care for over 12 years.
