Projects and Initiatives

The Council has accomplished groundbreaking work in Tennessee in the areas of employment, family support, housing, health, person-centered organizations/systems, leadership development, recreation and postsecondary education. The Council works with public and private groups across the state to find necessary supports for individuals with disabilities and their families, so that they may have equal access to public education, employment, housing, health care, and all other aspects of community life.

Key to the process is the collaborative work Councils do with other agencies within government. Councils on Developmental Disabilities seek long-term solutions through working to change the state systems that impact individuals with disabilities and their families.
