Morristown, TN
Friday, October 9, 2015

Sponsored by the Tennessee Commission on Aging and Disability, in partnership with the East Tennessee Area Agency on Aging and Disability, the Tennessee Senior Brain Games is an annual, statewide, team-based trivia competition designed to increase public awareness of brain health and its impact on quality of life.

The Morristown Senior Gamers, the 2014 champions, will host the 2015 Senior Brain Games on Friday, October 9th at the Rose Center in Morristown, Tennessee.  A free, healthy lunch will be served at 11:00 a.m., followed by the program and competition at 11:30 a.m. The Morristown Senior Gamers will be defending their title against teams from East, Middle, and West Tennessee. The competition will be fierce as the challenging teams attempt to unseat the champions from their title!

The 2015 Tennessee Senior Brain Games will offer multiple opportunities to engage in brain health activities. One of the most exciting of those will be the Mayor’s Mile walk with Mayor Gary Chesney and Mayor Bill Brittain, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in City Center Town Square. The walk will represent the critical role of physical activity, an essential component to brain health and overall healthy aging.

Another exciting event at the 2015 Senior Brain Games is the healthy dessert competition.  Eating healthy is another important aspect to overall brain health, and healthy choices don’t have to be bland and unappealing. To prove and promote this, there will be a competition to see who can create the best healthy dessert.

Alzheimer’s Tennessee will also be on site to answer questions one-on-one and provide written materials on a variety of different brain health-related topics. They will provide information on maintaining a healthy brain through their presentation “Practicing Good Brain Health,” which will cover topics including exercise, healthy eating, overall attention to health, engaging your brain, and the importance of social connection.

The 2015 Senior Brain Games is an opportunity to learn more about how healthy lifestyle choices can help you maintain a healthy body and an active brain.

We hope you will join us on Friday, October 9 at the Rose Center in Morristown for good food, good fun, and to cheer on the teams who traveled across the state for the final game of the year.
