Become a Mentor

Thank you for your interest in becoming a positive role model for one of Tennessee’s teenagers in foster care. Through mentoring, we will provide these teens the best chance at success in life, and we are pleased that you are interested in joining that effort.

To download an application to become a mentor, click on the “Apply Now” button at the bottom of the page. Complete the application and Release Authorization Form, sign the Release Form and mail both back to the address provided.

After you have mailed in your application, please call 1-866/519-LIFT and ask for registration information to begin the mandatory background screening, which is provided at no cost to you.

Once we receive your application and finish the background check, we will schedule a face-to-face interview and a brief training session. Then, we will begin matching mentors with teenagers.

Contact us at 1-866/519-LIFT or at tn.lift@state.tn.us.

“We want good folks, from all walks of life, to share some of their time and wisdom with Tennessee’s foster care kids. Every child needs a steady hand to help guide him or her into independent, adult living. By giving our most vulnerable kids – those living in foster care - that support, we boost their chances of successfully transitioning into the grown-up world.”
