The Tennessee Department of Children's Services Division of Juvenile Justice serves children who have been committed to the Department by the juvenile courts for delinquent offenses.
In July 2006, new state laws took effect that carves out a separate budget for the Juvenile Justice division within the larger department.
The Department operates five Youth Development Centers. This division is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the facilities while providing treatment and rehabilitation to children committed to state custody by the juvenile court.
