Ages/Numbers of Children in Placements
ØNo more that three (3) children in care may be placed in
a home
ØNo more that
six (6) children (birth,adoptive, or foster) may be in a home.
ØNo placement
is allowable if it would result in more than three (3) children under three (3) years of age.
DCS must make
specific efforts to assure that the numbers of children (birth, adoptive, and foster) in homes are
appropriate to allow families to meet children’s
needs. Standards include:
Exceptions,
which include the following, must be approved by the Assistant Commissioner in writing and
documented in the case file.
ØBest interest of the child.
ØException is
due to the placement of a sibling group with no other children in the home.
