Clarification Made to Bear Hunting Proclamation

NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission recently corrected a mistake made in a proclamation pertaining to bear hunting on North Cherokee Wildlife Management Area.

It was incorrectly stated in Proclamation 17-05, and included in the 2017 Tennessee Hunting and Trapping Guide, that the bear hunting season on North Cherokee WMA will be closed Sept. 23-Oct. 6. The corrected dates of the closure are Sept. 23-Oct. 1.

The bear season on North Cherokee WMA is the same as the statewide season with the exception of the nine-day closure.
